Inventory Pharmacist

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Pharmacist to join our healthcare team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the management, storage, and distribution of pharmaceutical products, medical consumables, and healthcare supplies to ensure seamless operations and compliance with regulatory standards. Your expertise in inventory control, pharmaceutical storage, and regulatory compliance will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our supply chain while optimizing stock levels to meet operational demands.

Key Responsibilities

As an Inventory Pharmacist, your core responsibilities will include:

• Inventory Management:
  • Maintain precise and up-to-date records of all inventory transactions, including receipts, issuances, transfers, returns, and adjustments, ensuring accuracy within the ERP system.
  • Monitor stock levels continuously to ensure adequate inventory is available to support clinical and operational requirements.
  • Conduct regular cycle counts, periodic stock audits, and annual physical inventories to validate inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory variances and discrepancies promptly, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Store Operations:
  • Oversee the receipt, inspection, and verification of pharmaceutical products, medical consumables, and healthcare supplies to ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
  • Enforce proper storage conditions in alignment with manufacturer specifications and healthcare regulations to maintain product integrity.
  • Ensure the medical store environment is organized, clean, and compliant with safety and infection control protocols.
  • Coordinate the timely and accurate issuance and distribution of inventory items to authorized departments and personnel.
  • Manage the proper handling, movement, and documentation of inventory within the facility to prevent loss or damage.
• Expiry and Inventory Control:
  • Monitor product expiry dates rigorously and enforce First Expiry First Out (FEFO) practices to minimize wastage and ensure patient safety.
  • Generate and distribute near-expiry reports, coordinating timely actions to prevent stock obsolescence.
  • Identify slow-moving, obsolete, or non-moving inventory and recommend strategies for optimization or disposal.
  • Coordinate the secure and compliant disposal of expired or damaged items in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing inventory utilization and reducing operational losses.
• Compliance and Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements from the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), Ministry of Health (MOH), Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS), Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI), Joint Commission International (JCI), and internal company policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive and audit-ready inventory documentation to support regulatory inspections and internal reviews.
  • Participate actively in internal and external audits, inspections, and quality assurance assessments.
  • Uphold stringent standards for quality, safety, and infection control throughout all inventory processes.
• Reporting and Cross-Functional Coordination:
  • Prepare and present periodic inventory reports, variance analyses, and stock status updates to management.
  • Escalate inventory shortages, stock risks, and compliance concerns to senior leadership in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate closely with Procurement, Finance, Pharmacy, and Supply Chain teams to align inventory requirements with operational and financial objectives.
  • Support demand forecasting and inventory planning initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and responsiveness.

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify for this role, you must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from a recognized institution.
• Licensure: Valid registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) and appropriate professional classification. A valid professional license where applicable is required.
• Experience: While prior experience in pharmacy stores, inventory management, warehouse operations, or healthcare supply chain is advantageous, we welcome applications from motivated fresh graduates who demonstrate a strong aptitude for inventory control and pharmaceutical operations.
• Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical storage requirements and inventory control principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP and inventory management systems, with the ability to navigate and utilize digital platforms effectively.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook, for reporting and documentation.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify trends, resolve discrepancies, and optimize inventory performance.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills to collaborate across departments and stakeholders.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy and compliance.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory frameworks and quality assurance standards.
