Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to spearhead our electrical engineering team within a dynamic EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) environment. This pivotal role demands a seasoned professional with a proven track record in managing complex electrical engineering projects across the Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power, and Water industries. The ideal candidate will play a central role in proposal development, technical execution, and interdisciplinary coordination, ensuring the successful delivery of projects while upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the following core functions:

  • Engineering Leadership: Oversee and lead all electrical engineering activities, including planning, scheduling, monitoring, and controlling project deliverables to ensure timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Foster strong coordination with cross-functional teams, including procurement, construction, and project management, to align electrical engineering solutions with project objectives.
  • Proactive Problem Resolution: Identify potential issues early, communicate them transparently to management, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure project continuity.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Actively participate in progress review meetings, technical discussions, client interactions, and vendor engagements to align expectations and drive project success.
  • Procurement Support: Assist the procurement team by preparing Material Requisitions (MR), conducting Technical Bid Clarifications/Evaluations (TBC/TBE), and drafting Purchase Requisitions to ensure the procurement of high-quality electrical equipment and materials.
  • Bidding and Estimation: Support the bidding team by preparing Requests for Quotations (RFQs), evaluating technical bids, and contributing to cost estimates to enhance competitiveness and accuracy.
  • Construction and Commissioning Support: Provide technical guidance to construction teams by addressing site-related queries, reviewing engineering deliverables, and ensuring adherence to specifications and standards during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.
  • Value Engineering and Risk Management: Lead value engineering initiatives, conduct lessons-learned sessions, and participate in risk assessment and management studies to optimize project outcomes and minimize potential hazards.
  • Quality and Safety Assurance: Ensure that all electrical engineering deliverables comply with international codes, industry standards, and client-specific requirements, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality assurance.
  • Customer Satisfaction and Reputation Management: Drive excellence in project delivery to enhance customer satisfaction, strengthen the company’s reputation, and foster long-term business relationships.

Technical Expertise and Standards

The Lead Electrical Engineer must possess in-depth knowledge of electrical systems and interfaces across multiple industries, including:

  • Switchyards, Transformers, Switchgears, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Reactors, Motors (Induction/Synchronous), UPS Systems, Lighting Systems, DC Battery Banks, and Power System Automation (PSA).
  • Fire Alarm and Detection Systems, Cathodic Protection Systems, Grounding Systems, Power and Control Cables, Cable Trays, and Conduits.
  • Preparation of technical specifications, data sheets, layouts, installation details, and schedules such as Load Lists, Cable Schedules, and Single-Line/Three-Line Diagrams.
  • Proficiency in industry-specific standards and codes, including Saudi Aramco, SABIC, SEC, DEP, Royal Commission Standards, HCISS, ASME, ANSI, API, ATEX, JIS, CSA, NEC, NFPA, IEC, IEEE, FM, and UL.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BS, BE, or B.Tech) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of combined experience in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals, Power, or Water industries, with prior involvement in EPC projects for organizations such as Saudi Aramco, SABIC, or similar entities.
  • Technical Skills: Comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles, standards, and best practices, with hands-on experience in FAT/SAT activities and pre-commissioning support.
  • Leadership and Soft Skills: Demonstrated leadership abilities, effective communication, team-building skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The ability to mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative work environment is essential.
  • Industry Knowledge: Staying abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
