This pivotal role is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operations, and engineering functions of our premier property, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. Key Responsibilities
As the Chief Engineer I, you will play a critical role in maintaining the operational integrity of the property while driving continuous improvement in engineering processes. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leadership and Team Management: Supervise a team of engineers, technicians, and maintenance staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional development. Ensure that all team members are aligned with the property’s operational goals and safety protocols.
- Facility Maintenance and Operations: Oversee the day-to-day maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of critical infrastructure.
- Budget and Resource Management: Prepare and manage the engineering department’s budget, including capital expenditures and operational costs. Optimize resource allocation to achieve cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to local, national, and international safety, health, and environmental regulations. Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions proactively.
- Guest Experience Enhancement: Collaborate with other departments to address guest concerns related to engineering issues, ensuring prompt resolution and maintaining the property’s reputation for excellence. Implement innovative solutions to enhance guest comfort and satisfaction.
- Technology Integration: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in engineering and facility management. Recommend and implement advanced systems, such as Building Management Systems (BMS) or IoT-enabled solutions, to improve efficiency and sustainability.
- Emergency Response and Crisis Management: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for critical situations, including power outages, equipment failures, or natural disasters. Lead the team during crises to minimize disruptions and ensure the safety of guests and staff.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Professional Engineer (PE) license) are highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in engineering and facility management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role within the hospitality, commercial, or industrial sector. Experience in managing large-scale properties or facilities is preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire protection systems, and building automation systems. Familiarity with energy management and sustainability practices is a plus.
- Leadership and Communication: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, and foster a positive and productive work environment. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills are essential.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of local and international safety, health, and environmental regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, and ISO standards.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Arabic is a strong advantage.
