Position Overview

The College of Computer and Cyber Sciences at the University of Prince Mugrin (UPM) is seeking a dedicated and skilled Teaching Assistant in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support the academic and research activities within the AI Unit. This role is pivotal in enhancing the learning experience for students by facilitating hands-on laboratory sessions, assisting faculty in research initiatives, and contributing to the effective delivery of AI-related courses. Key Responsibilities

The Teaching Assistant will play a multifaceted role in supporting the AI curriculum and research activities. The primary responsibilities include:

• Laboratory Management: Preparing, maintaining, and overseeing AI lab equipment, software, and resources to ensure optimal functionality and accessibility for students and faculty.
• Practical Instruction: Conducting and supervising laboratory sessions where students apply theoretical AI concepts through hands-on exercises and projects.
• Technical Support: Assisting students in debugging and troubleshooting AI-related coding challenges, as well as the implementation of machine learning models and algorithms.
• Resource Optimization: Ensuring the smooth operation of AI tools, frameworks, and computational resources to support both teaching and research activities.
• Curriculum Support: Collaborating with faculty members to prepare course materials, assignments, and projects that align with the latest advancements in AI.
• Student Guidance: Providing one-on-one or group guidance to students to deepen their understanding of AI concepts, applications, and best practices in the field.
• Tutorial Sessions: Conducting supplementary instruction sessions to reinforce classroom learning and address specific student needs.
• Assessment Support: Grading assignments, projects, and quizzes under the supervision of faculty to ensure fair and consistent evaluation.
• Research Assistance: Supporting faculty and students in AI-related research projects, including conducting literature reviews, data collection, and analysis.
• Research Documentation: Assisting in the preparation of research papers, presentations, and reports to disseminate findings and contribute to academic discourse.
• Professional Development: Staying abreast of the latest developments in AI, machine learning, and deep learning to integrate cutting-edge knowledge into teaching and research activities.
• Administrative Duties: Maintaining accurate records of lab activities, student performance, and resource utilization to ensure compliance with university policies and safety protocols.
• Departmental Engagement: Actively participating in departmental meetings and contributing to curriculum development initiatives to enhance the quality and relevance of the AI program.

Qualifications and Competencies

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following educational and professional criteria:

• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Artificial Intelligence or a closely related field, with a strong academic record.
• Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of AI, machine learning, deep learning, and proficiency in programming languages such as Python, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
• Laboratory Experience: Hands-on experience in conducting lab sessions and working with AI tools and frameworks in an academic or professional setting.
• Research Experience: Prior involvement in AI-related research projects is highly desirable, as it demonstrates the ability to contribute meaningfully to scholarly work.
• Teaching or Tutoring: Previous experience in teaching, tutoring, or mentoring students in AI or related disciplines is preferred but not mandatory.
• Language Proficiency: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, to effectively communicate with students, faculty, and administrative staff.
