Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Workplace Health and Safety Officer (WHS) to join our team at a delivery station. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with site operations to implement and enforce Amazon’s safety policies while ensuring full compliance with all relevant local and regional regulations. Your expertise in lean principles and kaizen methodologies will drive continuous improvement initiatives, reducing conditional and ergonomic risks to foster a safer, healthier working environment for our Associates. The ideal candidate will excel in building trust with the Operations Team, inspiring transformative change through comprehensive risk assessments and insightful safety data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Policy Implementation and Compliance: Provide expert guidance to ensure adherence to Amazon’s WHS standards and policies. Measure site performance against published requirements, identify deficiencies, and develop actionable plans for resolution to maintain a high standard of safety.
• Safety Metrics and Trend Analysis: Deliver timely and high-quality safety projects to Operations. Analyze safety metrics and review weekly and monthly incident trends to identify patterns, enabling strategic resource allocation to high-risk areas.
• Incident Management: Oversee proper incident investigations and ensure the timely closure of Corrective Actions and Preventive Actions (CAPAs) to mitigate future risks.
• Site Safety Audits: Conduct frequent audits to identify non-compliant equipment and processes, implementing solutions to eliminate exposure and prevent injuries. Review record-keeping practices to ensure alignment with global WHS standards and local regulations.
• Workplace Organization and Training: Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors to verify the accuracy and consistency of training, auditing, and scoring methods. Lead and mentor Safety Associates during peak periods to reinforce safety protocols.
• Continuous Improvement: Spend time at the delivery station to gather input from Safety teams, Associates, and leaders on safety program enhancements. Maintain open communication regarding the progress and resolution of these initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

To thrive in this role, you must meet the following basic qualifications:

• Fluency in speaking, writing, and reading English.

The following preferred qualifications will enhance your candidacy:

• Hold a NEBOSH (National General Certificate) or equivalent certification.

Work Environment and Flexibility

As a member of the site WHS team, you will report to the Site WHS Manager and may be required to work flexible shifts to accommodate operational needs. This role demands a proactive approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—to drive safety initiatives and inspire change across the organization.
