Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Cost Engineer at Parsons, your core responsibilities will include:

• Cost Estimation and Analysis: Develop, review, and validate detailed cost estimates for complex projects, ensuring alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications. Utilize advanced cost modeling tools and methodologies to generate accurate forecasts.
• Budget Development and Management: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to establish comprehensive budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety.
• Financial Reporting and Forecasting: Prepare and present financial reports, variance analyses, and cost performance metrics to senior leadership and clients. Provide actionable insights to optimize resource allocation and mitigate financial risks.
• Contract Review and Compliance: Assess contract terms, pricing structures, and procurement strategies to ensure cost-effective solutions. Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, industry regulations, and organizational policies.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including procurement, engineering, and project controls, to foster a culture of cost awareness and accountability. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior management on cost-related matters.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline cost engineering processes, implement best practices, and leverage technology to enhance efficiency and accuracy in cost management.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CCE, CCP) is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in cost engineering, cost estimation, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a senior or leadership capacity. Experience in the infrastructure, construction, or defense sectors is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in cost estimation software (e.g., Primavera, Microsoft Project, or similar tools), strong analytical abilities, and expertise in financial modeling. Familiarity with industry standards such as AACE International’s Recommended Practices is a plus.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and manage multiple priorities with precision.
• Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified Cost Engineer (CCE), Certified Cost Professional (CCP), or Project Management Professional (PMP) are advantageous.
