Key Responsibilities

The Laboratory Technique Specialist will be responsible for a wide range of technical and operational duties, including:

• Sample Processing and Analysis: Receive, log, and process blood and body fluid samples, ensuring proper pre-analytical handling and preparation for testing.
• Equipment and Quality Assurance: Conduct daily equipment checks to verify operational safety and accuracy, perform routine maintenance, and execute quality control tests on reagents to uphold laboratory standards.
• Diagnostic Testing: Operate advanced laboratory machines for hematology, biochemistry, serology, and hormone analysis, ensuring timely and precise results. Utilize microscopic techniques to analyze blood cells, urine, and stool samples for diagnostic purposes.
• Inventory and Resource Management: Monitor laboratory supply levels, anticipate needs, place orders, and verify deliveries to maintain optimal stock levels. Utilize resources efficiently to support laboratory operations without waste.
• Data Reporting and Communication: Prepare comprehensive reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing technological findings. Communicate critical test results to medical staff promptly and accurately to facilitate patient care decisions.
• Compliance and Safety: Adhere to strict infection control protocols, hazardous waste disposal procedures, and confidentiality policies to protect patients, employees, and the integrity of the hospital. Maintain a clean and organized work environment in compliance with regulatory standards.

Work Environment and Schedule

The Laboratory Technique Specialist will operate in a fully indoor clinical laboratory setting, ensuring a controlled and safe environment for all activities. The position follows a structured schedule of six working days per week, with one designated day off. Working hours are based on an 8-hour net shift schedule, as approved by the Head of Department, providing a balanced and predictable work-life arrangement.

Qualifications and Skills

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Applied Medical Science, with a specialization in laboratory sciences.
• Experience: A minimum of two years of hands-on practical experience in a clinical laboratory setting following graduation.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Health Information Systems, to support data management and reporting.
• Language Skills: Fluency in both English and Arabic, with the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
