Your Opportunity
As the IT Change Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and executing the Change Management process across the organization. Your responsibility is to ensure that all IT changes—whether routine, standard, or emergency—are meticulously assessed, authorized, implemented, and reviewed in a controlled and risk-aware manner. This role is critical in preserving the stability and reliability of IT services by preventing unauthorized or inadequately planned changes from disrupting business operations. You will serve as a strategic advisor and process owner, collaborating closely with technical teams, business units, and senior leadership to harmonize operational agility with robust governance.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-End Process Ownership: Manage the complete Change Management lifecycle in strict alignment with ITIL best practices and organizational policies.
- Change Advisory Leadership: Chair and facilitate Change Advisory Board (CAB) and Emergency Change Advisory Board (ECAB) meetings, ensuring thorough risk assessment and informed authorization of changes.
- Change Evaluation & Authorization: Review, assess, and approve or reject Request for Change (RFC) submissions based on comprehensive risk analysis, potential business impact, and resource availability.
- Change Scheduling & Coordination: Maintain the Forward Schedule of Change (FSC) and coordinate change windows with operational teams to minimize disruption.
- Risk & Impact Assessment: Evaluate the risks and business implications of proposed changes, ensuring robust mitigation strategies and rollback plans are established and tested.
- Conflict & Dependency Management: Identify and resolve conflicts, dependencies, and potential clashes between concurrent changes across infrastructure, applications, and services.
- Compliance & Governance: Ensure all changes adhere to the organization’s risk appetite and comply with regulatory obligations, maintaining full auditability and documentation.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams and business units, providing clear and timely communication regarding approved changes, their impact, and implementation timelines.
- Reporting & Analysis: Develop and present Change Management reports, post-implementation reviews (PIRs), KPI dashboards, and trend analyses to senior management for informed decision-making.
- Process Improvement: Define, maintain, and continuously enhance Change Management policies, procedures, and templates to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
- Unauthorized Change Management: Identify and address unauthorized changes (Change Without Authorization – CWA), enforcing strict adherence to established processes.
- Collaboration with Incident & Problem Management: Work closely with Incident and Problem Management teams to identify change-related incidents and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- ITSM Tool Administration: Administer and optimize the Change Management module within the organization’s ITSM platform, such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or BMC Remedy.
- Automation & Standardization: Drive the adoption of pre-approved and standard change models to enhance operational agility and reduce manual intervention.
Requirements
To excel in this role, you must meet the following qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- A minimum of 4 to 6 years of hands-on experience in IT Service Management, with at least 2 years dedicated to Change Management.
- Mandatory ITIL Foundation certification (v3 or v4); ITIL Change Management Practitioner or ITIL Managing Professional certification is highly preferred.
- Proven track record in chairing CAB meetings and managing high-risk, complex change processes in enterprise environments.
- Strong proficiency with ITSM tools, including ServiceNow, Jira Service Management, or BMC Remedy, with the ability to configure and optimize modules as needed.
- In-depth understanding of enterprise IT ecosystems, encompassing infrastructure, cloud computing, networking, and application landscapes.
- Exceptional ability to balance stringent governance requirements with the need for business agility in fast-paced, dynamic settings.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Analytical mindset with a keen attention to detail, enabling you to assess risks, evaluate impacts, and make data-driven decisions.
- Demonstrated leadership in driving process improvements and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous enhancement.
