Repair Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Repair Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of drilling equipment, ensuring compliance with NOV’s global and local procedures, and driving operational excellence. Your expertise will be pivotal in resolving technical issues, collaborating with vendors, and enhancing repair processes to maintain the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

The Repair Engineer will play a central role in the repair lifecycle, from initial assessment to final delivery. Your core responsibilities will include:

• Technical Disposition and Compliance: Issue repair dispositions for machining, welding, coating, inlays, pressure testing, and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) following NOV’s established procedures and guidelines. Ensure all repairs adhere to local and global standards.
• Non-Conformance Resolution: Manage and resolve all Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) raised during the repair process. Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify underlying issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Vendor Collaboration and Support: Provide technical guidance and support to vendors throughout the repair process. Assist in the qualification of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and collaborate with vendors to ensure timely and high-quality repairs.
• Team Leadership and Project Oversight: Lead and support the Repair Team during critical projects, including SPS and other major initiatives. Ensure alignment with project timelines, quality standards, and safety protocols.
• Process Improvement and Innovation: Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency by developing new tools, instruments, and equipment. Continuously evaluate and improve repair processes to reduce downtime and optimize performance.
• Quality Assurance and Inspection: Review Quality Control (QC) inspection reports to ensure compliance with repair specifications. Collaborate with the QC team to develop and refine Statements of Work (SOW) for repair projects.
• Cost Estimation and Planning Support: Assist the Planning Team in finalizing project scopes, including Bill of Materials (BOM), and provide accurate cost estimates for third-party repairs. Support the Purchase team in identifying local sources for parts.
• Documentation and Compliance: Perform PIB (Process Inspection and Benchmarking) checks at all stages of the repair process. Ensure strict adherence to ARM Company and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and procedures.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Shop Supervisors and other stakeholders to provide necessary technical support and ensure seamless execution of repair projects.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and competencies:

• Education: A degree or diploma in Engineering or a related field is required.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the repair and inspection of drilling equipment. A strong understanding of drilling equipment repair processes is essential.
• Technical Proficiency: Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams with precision. Proficient in using ERP and tracker systems to manage repair workflows.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical mindset with the ability to conduct thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement effective solutions.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with vendors, team members, and stakeholders. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Cost Awareness: Basic knowledge of cost estimation to support planning and procurement activities.
