Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned Lead Specialist, Marketing - Fertilizers II to spearhead our fertilizer marketing initiatives across diverse regions and product lines. This pivotal role will drive product management, market analysis, pricing strategies, and profitability optimization while ensuring alignment with commercial objectives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in fertilizer markets, advanced analytical capabilities, and a proven track record of delivering revenue growth and margin enhancement through data-driven commercial strategies. This position will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing executive-level insights to inform strategic decision-making and long-term planning.

Key Responsibilities

Market and Product Strategy

In this role, you will lead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies for our global fertilizer portfolio, including DAP, MAP, phosphates, and other key products. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting in-depth market analysis to assess supply-demand dynamics, pricing trends, competitor benchmarks, and customer behavior;
  • Developing and implementing regional and product-level marketing strategies that align with corporate objectives and enhance market positioning;
  • Leading the creation and execution of promotional initiatives to elevate product visibility and strengthen market presence;
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of marketing strategies with sales, logistics, and operational plans.

Pricing, Profitability, and Budgeting

You will be responsible for optimizing pricing strategies, conducting margin and profitability analyses, and structuring contracts to maximize commercial value. Key duties include:

  • Developing and implementing pricing strategies that balance market competitiveness with profitability objectives;
  • Performing cost analysis and profitability assessments to identify opportunities for margin enhancement;
  • Structuring contracts and agreements to support long-term commercial relationships and revenue stability;
  • Managing departmental budgeting activities and ensuring financial discipline through rigorous governance and oversight.

Executive Reporting and Commercial Insight

This role requires the ability to translate complex market data into actionable insights for senior leadership. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing executive-level market reports, scenario analyses, and risk assessments for senior management, EXCOM, and Board materials;
  • Monitoring commercial risks, including feedstock cost volatility, to support proactive planning and risk mitigation;
  • Providing strategic recommendations to enhance decision-making and drive commercial success.

Cross-Functional Coordination and Customer Engagement

You will collaborate closely with Sales, Logistics, and Planning teams to align production, allocation, and inventory strategies with market opportunities. Your duties will include:

  • Coordinating with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution of marketing strategies and operational plans;
  • Supporting tender participation, long-term offtake agreements, and strategic customer engagements through market and commercial insights;
  • Acting as a liaison between commercial and operational teams to optimize product allocation and profitability.

Process Improvement and Capability Development

To drive continuous improvement, you will contribute to the enhancement of commercial processes, systems, and team capabilities. This includes:

  • Identifying opportunities for process optimization and implementing best practices to strengthen marketing effectiveness;
  • Supporting the development of systems and tools to enhance data-driven decision-making;
  • Mentoring junior team members and serving as a technical resource within the fertilizer marketing function.

Qualifications and Competencies

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business, Economics, or a related field. A Master’s degree, preferably an MBA or in Economics, is highly preferred;
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in fertilizer, commodities, or bulk materials marketing, with a strong focus on international markets;
  • Proven expertise in product management, pricing analysis, promotions, and market intelligence;
  • Experience in management reporting and executive-level communication.

Technical and Functional Competencies

  • Advanced understanding of fertilizer markets, global trade flows, and supply-demand dynamics;
  • Strong analytical and microeconomic skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and derive actionable insights;
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with a deep understanding of value drivers, margin optimization, and cost structures;
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to produce executive-ready materials for diverse audiences;
  • Proven stakeholder management capabilities, with experience collaborating across cross-functional and international teams;
  • High attention to detail, adherence to governance frameworks, and commitment to compliance discipline;
  • Strategic thinking combined with a hands-on approach to execution and problem-solving.
