Port Engineer - Shore Based Position

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Port Engineer – Shore Based Position to join our dynamic team in Saudi Arabia. This full-time, on-site role is critical to the efficient and safe operation of our marine assets, including non-DP crew boats and offshore security patrolling boats. The successful candidate will oversee vessel operations, manage maintenance and repairs, and ensure strict adherence to safety and maritime regulations. This position requires a proactive leader capable of collaborating with cross-functional teams and third-party service providers to optimize performance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Vessel Operations Oversight: Coordinate day-to-day vessel management, ensuring seamless operations and adherence to operational protocols.
• Maintenance and Repairs: Plan, execute, and oversee maintenance schedules, repairs, and upgrades to ensure vessel reliability and longevity.
• Safety and Compliance: Conduct regular inspections and audits to guarantee compliance with international maritime safety standards, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and STCW regulations.
• Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all vessels meet the stringent requirements set by Saudi Aramco and other regulatory bodies, including documentation, certifications, and operational protocols.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with marine engineers, deck officers, and third-party service providers to resolve technical issues, improve efficiency, and implement best practices.
• Emergency Response: Serve as a temporary Chief Engineer when required, demonstrating leadership and technical expertise during critical situations.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of vessel operations, maintenance activities, and compliance reports for internal and regulatory review.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of four (4) years as a Chief Engineer on non-DP crew boats or offshore security patrolling boats. Prior experience in a similar Port Engineer or shore-based marine engineering role is highly preferred.
• Certifications and Documentation:
  • Valid Certificate of Competency with proof of verification.
  • Certificate of Competency Endorsement.
  • All STCW Certificates, including Medical Care and Engine Room Resource Management.
  • Valid passport (with at least six months’ validity).
  • Valid Seaman Book with all sea time entries (valid for at least six months).
  • Marlins Test with a minimum score of 80% and online verification proof.
  • Valid medical fitness certificate (valid for at least three months).
  • H2S Familiarization Course certification.
  • Previous Saudi Aramco approvals as Chief Engineer or Port Engineer for crew/patrol boats.
  • BOSIET and HUET certifications.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in ship management, vessel operations, and maintenance & repair practices. Strong background in marine industry standards and regulatory compliance.
• Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the capacity to work effectively in a collaborative environment with diverse teams.
