Key Responsibilities

As an Occupational Therapist, your core responsibilities will encompass a wide range of therapeutic interventions designed to support patients in achieving their personal and professional goals. Your duties will include:

• Functional Rehabilitation: Assisting patients in developing, recovering, or maintaining essential daily living and work-related skills through targeted therapeutic interventions.
• Motor and Cognitive Enhancement: Implementing structured exercises and advanced modalities to improve patients’ motor functions, reasoning abilities, decision-making, problem-solving, memory, coordination, and perceptual skills.
• Adaptive Strategies: Instructing patients with permanent disabilities in the safe and effective use of adaptive equipment, such as wheelchairs, orthotics, and assistive technologies, to facilitate greater independence in their daily activities.
• Environmental Assessments: Conducting thorough evaluations of patients’ homes, workplaces, or educational settings to identify potential hazards and recommend restorative or safety adaptations that promote a secure and accessible environment.
• Customized Equipment Design: Designing and fabricating specialized equipment tailored to the unique needs of patients, ensuring they can perform daily tasks, such as dressing, cooking, and using technology, with greater ease and efficiency.
• Vocational Support: Collaborating with patients and employers to assess work environments, plan appropriate work activities, and implement modifications that enable successful job performance. This includes arranging employment opportunities and monitoring progress to ensure long-term sustainability.
• Caregiver Education: Providing comprehensive guidance to family members and caregivers on safe and effective techniques for supporting individuals with disabilities, fostering a supportive and nurturing care environment.
• Progress Documentation: Conducting regular evaluations of patients’ progress and preparing detailed reports that outline achievements, challenges, and recommended next steps to ensure continuity of care.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Working closely with healthcare professionals, educators, and employers to develop holistic care plans that address the physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of patients.

Qualifications and Professional Requirements

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the following attributes:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution is required. Advanced degrees or certifications are highly desirable and may provide additional opportunities for specialization.
• Experience: While prior professional experience is preferred, we also welcome recent graduates who demonstrate a strong commitment to the field and a passion for patient care. Hands-on clinical or fieldwork experience is advantageous.
