Key Responsibilities
The Profitability & Cost Management Manager will be responsible for a wide range of financial and operational duties, including:
- Financial Governance & Process Optimization:
- Develop, implement, and oversee robust policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements while delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions;
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the function’s systems, processes, and practices, incorporating industry best practices and adapting to evolving business environments;
- Establish and manage Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal stakeholders to foster accountability and streamline cross-functional collaboration.
- Team Leadership & Talent Development:
- Cultivate a culture of excellence, accountability, and professional growth within the team by providing mentorship, guidance, and development opportunities;
- Recruit, onboard, and develop top-tier talent, ensuring the team is equipped to handle increasingly complex responsibilities;
- Set clear performance objectives, conduct regular evaluations, and provide constructive feedback to drive individual and collective success;
- Foster open communication channels, ensuring transparent top-down directives and bottom-up feedback to senior leadership.
- Cost Management & Financial Analysis:
- Conduct detailed cost evaluations, extract precise quantities, and perform financial modelling to accurately forecast material and equipment requirements;
- Collaborate with design teams to interpret project briefs and translate technical specifications into comprehensive cost plans and estimates;
- Perform financial modelling, cost-benchmarking, and lifecycle cost analysis to identify optimization opportunities and maintain an internal repository of benchmark data;
- Monitor project budgets during the construction phase, prepare periodic cost reports, and ensure adherence to financial targets;
- Support the preparation of feasibility studies and design proposals by providing critical insights on cost viability and alignment with business objectives.
- Contract Administration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Assist in the preparation and review of tender documentation, ensuring compliance with contractual conditions and industry standards;
- Provide expert guidance to project teams on financial and cost-related matters, acting as an internal subject matter resource;
- Monitor market trends and industry developments, recommending strategic cost optimization measures to senior management;
- Facilitate cost reviews throughout the project lifecycle, adjusting budgets in response to design iterations, timeline changes, or other influencing factors.
Stakeholder Collaboration
This role requires close collaboration with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and financial integrity:
- Internal Relationships: Work closely with all departments across the organization to align financial strategies with operational goals and project deliverables;
- External Relationships: Engage with third-party contractors, design firms, manpower providers, government regulators, and utility companies to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and optimize cost structures.
Qualifications & Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent is highly desirable;
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Real Estate or a related industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity;
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial modelling, cost analysis, and budget management, with a strong understanding of construction industry dynamics;
- Leadership & Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership abilities, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills to influence stakeholders at all levels;
- Analytical Mindset: A data-driven approach to problem-solving, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
