About the Role

As a Microsoft Data Center Technician (DCT), you will play a pivotal role in the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of Microsoft’s global data center infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include staging, setting up, and deploying hardware, performing diagnostic troubleshooting, and executing hardware decommissions in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures. Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for a range of critical tasks that ensure the seamless operation of Microsoft’s data center infrastructure. Your duties will include:

• Hardware Deployment and Maintenance: Stage, set up, and deploy hardware components while adhering to safety protocols and deployment standards. Ensure proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling to maintain operational integrity.
• Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Perform diagnostic assessments to identify hardware or system issues, resolve faults by replacing faulty components, and minimize disruptions to customer and business operations.
• Hardware Decommissioning: Execute decommissioning procedures for hardware upgrades, replacements, or refreshes, following standard protocols with minimal guidance to ensure efficiency and compliance.
• Incident Reporting and Escalation: Communicate and report incidents to appropriate management units, Technician Leads, and engineering specialists, ensuring timely resolution and documentation of issues.
• Mentoring and Collaboration: Provide guidance and support to peers, assisting in the completion of complex tasks and fostering a collaborative team environment. Share knowledge, contribute to team meetings, and stay informed about the progress of ongoing projects.
• Quality Assurance: Conduct post-execution quality checks to verify that all configurations meet safety, deployment, and network design standards. Take pride in delivering high-quality service and ensuring a positive user experience.
• Professional Development: Participate in required training programs aligned with your role and workload. Observe experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience and accelerate your career growth within Microsoft’s CO+I division.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you will need the following qualifications and skills:

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, along with a foundational understanding of computer hardware and components.
• Experience: Hands-on experience supporting IT equipment or related technology is required. Familiarity with hardware deployment, troubleshooting, and decommissioning processes is highly beneficial.
• Certifications (Preferred): CompTIA A+, Server+, or Network+ certifications, as well as Basic Structured Cabling (BSC) credentials, are advantageous.
• Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to teamwork and collaboration. The ability to communicate effectively and take ownership of your work is essential.
• Background Check: Successful candidates must pass a background check to meet Microsoft’s security and compliance standards.
