Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated IT Specialist (INFOSEC/CUSTSPT) to join our team at the training center. In this critical role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring the seamless operation of IT, Information Management (IM), and Knowledge Management (KM) systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in enabling efficient information display and sharing, supporting the center’s mission through robust technical solutions and cybersecurity best practices. Key Responsibilities

As an IT Specialist, your core duties will encompass a wide range of technical and analytical tasks designed to enhance the functionality and security of our IT infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include:

  • System Support and Training: Provide expert assistance to personnel in utilizing existing IT, IM, and KM systems, ensuring they can effectively display and share information. Analyze system performance to identify malfunctions, software issues, or user knowledge gaps, and deliver targeted training to resolve these challenges.
  • IT Acquisition and Contract Review: Conduct in-depth analysis to support IT acquisition processes, including the review of IT contracts, NMCI task orders, and shared services business practices. Your insights will drive informed decision-making and optimize resource allocation.
  • Change Management: Oversee changes to hardware, software, firmware, system documentation, and testing protocols throughout the operational lifecycle of all systems. Ensure that modifications are implemented smoothly and in compliance with established standards.
  • Cybersecurity and Compliance: Apply cybersecurity policies to safeguard unclassified information, ensuring adherence to DoD and federal regulations. Stay abreast of evolving technology standards and their potential impact on organizational missions, developing proactive plans to address emerging requirements.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Utilize advanced oral and written communication techniques to build professional relationships with leadership and represent the workplace in interactions with external organizations. Your ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely will be essential to your success.

Qualifications and Requirements

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship and Suitability: Must be a U.S. citizen and determined suitable for federal employment. New employees will be required to pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Security Clearance: Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entering duty. Failure to secure or maintain the required clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal from the position.
  • Drug Testing: Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test, including screening for marijuana, is mandatory. A tentative job offer may be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test or do not pass.
  • Selective Service Registration: Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service System.
  • Experience: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the federal service, or comparable experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must include:
    • Applying acquisition management policies and procedures to evaluate IT products and services, develop Electronic Classrooms (ECR), and mentor lower-level personnel.
    • Implementing cybersecurity policies to protect unclassified information.
    • Utilizing communication techniques to engage with leadership and represent the organization externally.
    • Applying IT concepts, principles, and practices to resolve complex technical issues.
    • Staying current with technology standards to assess their impact on organizational missions and develop strategic plans.
  • Training and Travel: Must complete required training and obtain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. This position may require travel within CONUS and OCONUS, including remote or isolated sites, and the ability to travel on military or commercial aircraft for extended periods.
  • Cyberspace Workforce Position: This role is designated under the Cyberspace Workforce, work role code 722 – INFOSEC Manager, proficiency level intermediate. Compliance with DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies is mandatory.
