Reliability Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Reliability Engineer to join our team in a contingent capacity. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in enhancing the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our gasification and power production systems. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate closely with Operations and Maintenance teams to minimize unplanned downtime, conduct thorough equipment failure investigations, and implement robust predictive maintenance programs. Additionally, you will drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize plant performance and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

As a Reliability Engineer, your core duties will include:

• Equipment Reliability Management: Monitor and enhance the reliability and performance of critical plant equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
• Predictive and Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement advanced predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment availability and reduce downtime.
• Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Conduct in-depth failure investigations to identify recurring issues and implement sustainable solutions that prevent recurrence.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze operational and maintenance data to identify trends, assess risks, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
• Methodology Implementation: Support and lead reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other reliability improvement methodologies to enhance asset performance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to optimize plant performance and align reliability goals with business objectives.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure adherence to stringent safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices to maintain a secure and compliant operational environment.
• Reporting and Metrics: Prepare comprehensive reliability reports, actionable recommendations, and performance metrics to support data-driven decision-making and strategic planning.
• Innovation and Technology: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging innovation, advanced data analysis techniques, and predictive maintenance technologies to enhance asset reliability and operational excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline is required. Professional certifications such as Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) are highly desirable and will be considered a significant advantage.
• Experience: A minimum of 6 years of hands-on experience in Reliability Engineering, Asset Management, or Maintenance Engineering within energy, power generation, oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments is essential. Prior exposure to predictive maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis, thermography, and condition monitoring, is a strong plus.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of reliability engineering principles and methodologies, including Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Proficiency in predictive and preventive maintenance programs, CMMS, and maintenance management systems is also required. Additionally, experience with data analysis and performance monitoring tools, as well as familiarity with gasification and power generation equipment and processes, will be highly beneficial.
