Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Technician - Jeddah

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Technician to join our team in Jeddah. This role is critical to ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and compliance of our wastewater treatment facilities. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in wastewater treatment processes, equipment operation, and regulatory standards. You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding public health and the environment by maintaining optimal plant performance and adhering to all operational and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Operational Excellence: Monitor, control, and optimize wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company standards. Operate and maintain treatment equipment, including pumps, aerators, clarifiers, and filtration systems, to achieve desired effluent quality.
• System Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems. Conduct repairs and adjustments as needed to minimize downtime and ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Compliance and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of process parameters, maintenance activities, and regulatory compliance reports. Ensure adherence to local, national, and international environmental regulations, including those set by the Saudi Environmental Law and other relevant authorities.
• Safety and Risk Management: Implement and enforce safety protocols to mitigate hazards associated with wastewater treatment operations. Conduct risk assessments, participate in safety drills, and ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Collaboration and Training: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, operators, and environmental specialists, to optimize plant performance. Provide training and guidance to junior staff on best practices in wastewater treatment, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
• Emergency Response: Respond promptly to operational emergencies, such as equipment failures, spills, or process deviations. Develop and execute contingency plans to restore normal operations while minimizing environmental impact.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you should have a strong technical foundation and hands-on experience in wastewater treatment. The following qualifications are essential:

• A diploma or degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations, maintenance, or a closely related field.
• In-depth knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, including primary, secondary, and tertiary treatment methods.
• Proficiency in operating and maintaining wastewater treatment equipment, such as pumps, blowers, clarifiers, and disinfection systems.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems, process control instrumentation, and data logging software for monitoring plant performance.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret process data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Valid certifications in wastewater treatment operations, safety protocols, or related areas are highly desirable.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
