As the company prepares to open its groundbreaking longevity resort in Amaala, Saudi Arabia, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Paymaster to lead our payroll operations and contribute to the financial success of this one-of-a-kind property in the GCC region.
Role Overview
The Paymaster will play a pivotal role in managing the resort’s largest operational cost while ensuring compliance with labor and payroll regulations in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leadership, Human Resources, and department heads. Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing (60% of Role):
- Oversee the monthly payroll cycle, including reviewing earnings details for discrepancies such as missed punches, manual timesheet corrections, sick/holiday pay, and anomalies for salaried employees.
- Ensure accurate inclusion of tips, commissions, service charges, and other variable pay components in the payroll process.
- Prepare and compile comprehensive payroll reports in compliance with audit requirements and submit them for approval by HRD, DOF, and GM.
- Develop, maintain, and update payroll checklists, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and instructional documents to streamline processes.
- Train new Heads of Department (HODs) and managers on payroll processing expectations and best practices.
- Conduct audits of system reports to verify accuracy and post month-end payroll journals.
- Prepare and post monthly payroll accruals, including leased labor, to the General Ledger (GL).
- Reconcile all payroll-related balance sheet accounts to ensure financial integrity.
- Ensure timely submission of GOSI (General Organization for Social Insurance) and WPS (Wage Protection System) reports, adhering strictly to KSA labor and payroll laws and regulations.
- Reporting and Analysis (40% of Role):
- Generate and distribute labor analysis reports at least twice weekly, providing commentary on trends and insights.
- Analyze leased labor effectiveness by comparing staffing levels against business volume and forecast/budget targets.
- Reconcile leased labor invoices with internal timesheet records and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Participate in month-end Profit & Loss (P&L) review meetings, offering detailed analysis of payroll expenditures and actionable guidance to HODs and managers.
- Conduct bi-monthly Labor Meetings with Executive Committee (EC) and HODs to review payroll spend pacing, elasticity based on revenue changes, and follow up on action items.
- Take ownership of labor/payroll forecasting and budgeting across departments in collaboration with HODs and EC.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or an equivalent field (required).
- Professional accounting membership such as CA (Chartered Accountant), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), or equivalent (highly desirable).
- SOCPA (Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants) holder or eligibility to apply for membership (required).
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in hotel finance management, with a strong focus on payroll operations.
- Proven experience with General Ledger (highly desirable) and payroll forecasting/budgeting (highly desirable).
- Pre-opening experience in a luxury hospitality or resort environment (highly desirable).
