We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DBA Administrator with expertise in both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server to join our dynamic team in Jeddah on a long-term hybrid contract. Role Overview

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, high-performance database environments that ensure data integrity, security, and availability. Your expertise will be instrumental in optimizing database performance, automating administrative tasks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless database solutions. This position demands a proactive, detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in database administration, troubleshooting, and strategic planning.

Key Responsibilities

• Database Administration and Maintenance: Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Oracle Database and Microsoft SQL Server environments across development, testing, UAT, and production stages. Ensure seamless operation and compliance with industry best practices.
• Performance Optimization: Conduct in-depth performance tuning, including SQL query optimization, indexing strategies, and resource management. Analyze execution plans and monitor database health to identify and resolve bottlenecks proactively.
• High Availability and Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and SQL Server Always On Availability Groups to ensure minimal downtime and data resilience. Develop and execute comprehensive backup and recovery strategies, including RMAN for Oracle and native SQL Server tools.
• Security and Compliance: Enforce robust security protocols, including user authentication, role-based access control, encryption, and auditing. Align database practices with organizational security policies and regulatory requirements.
• Automation and Scripting: Develop and maintain automated scripts for database administration, maintenance jobs, and reporting using shell, PowerShell, or T-SQL. Streamline repetitive tasks to enhance efficiency and reduce human error.
• Capacity Planning and Infrastructure: Assess database storage, transaction logs, and disk utilization to forecast capacity needs. Recommend and implement infrastructure improvements to support scalability and performance.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Diagnose and resolve complex database incidents, connectivity issues, and production failures with minimal impact. Provide technical guidance to application teams and participate in 24x7 on-call support when required.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with infrastructure, security, DevOps, and application teams to align database initiatives with business objectives. Maintain comprehensive documentation for operational procedures, recovery plans, and change management processes.
• Cloud and Emerging Technologies: Leverage knowledge of cloud databases such as Azure SQL, Azure Database for Oracle, or AWS RDS to explore hybrid or cloud-native solutions where applicable.

Technical Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must possess:

• Oracle Expertise: Proficiency in Oracle Database versions 11g through 21c, including Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, PL/SQL, and Oracle Enterprise Manager. Hands-on experience with database patching, upgrades, and migration projects.
• Microsoft SQL Server Proficiency: Deep knowledge of SQL Server 2016, 2019, and 2022, with expertise in T-SQL, SSMS, SQL Server Agent, Always On Availability Groups, replication, and log shipping.
• Operating Systems: Extensive experience with Linux/Unix and Windows Server environments, including administration and troubleshooting.
• Scripting and Automation: Strong skills in shell scripting and PowerShell for database automation and administration tasks.
• ITIL and Process Management: Familiarity with ITIL frameworks, including incident, change, and problem management, to ensure structured and efficient database operations.
• Monitoring and Tools: Experience with enterprise database management platforms and monitoring tools to track performance metrics and database health.
• Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in database administration, with a focus on Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server in enterprise environments.
