Ophthalmic Technician

About the Role

Al Salama Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our esteemed Ophthalmology/Surgery department. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with ophthalmologists to deliver exceptional eye care services, ensuring that each patient receives accurate diagnostic evaluations and personalized treatment plans. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of clinical tasks, from patient screening and diagnostic testing to meticulous data management, all while adhering to the highest standards of patient safety, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance. Key Responsibilities

• Patient Screening and Preparation: Conduct thorough patient screenings by measuring visual acuity, assessing intraocular pressure (IOP), and administering prescribed eye drops for pupil dilation. Ensure patients are comfortable and well-informed throughout the process.
• Diagnostic Testing: Perform a comprehensive suite of diagnostic procedures, including A/B scan ultrasonography, fundus photography, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), visual field testing, Fundus Fluorescein Angiography (FFA), and Pentacam corneal topography. Operate and maintain advanced ophthalmic equipment with precision and attention to detail.
• Data Management: Accurately document patient histories, diagnostic results, and clinical observations in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system. Maintain organized and up-to-date records to support seamless continuity of care and facilitate effective communication among healthcare providers.
• Compliance and Safety: Uphold strict adherence to data confidentiality protocols, ensuring patient information is protected in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. Follow established safety guidelines to minimize risks and maintain a secure clinical environment.

Qualifications

• Education: Hold a degree in Nursing or Applied Sciences, with specialized training in ophthalmic technology. A background in ophthalmology or a related field is highly desirable.
• Certification and Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of one year of hands-on experience in an ophthalmic or surgical setting. Possess valid certification from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) as an Ophthalmic Technician, validating your expertise and commitment to professional excellence.
• Technical Proficiency: Exhibit proficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic equipment and familiarity with EMR systems. Strong technical skills, combined with a keen eye for detail, are essential for delivering accurate and reliable results.
• Soft Skills: Demonstrate exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities. The ideal candidate will possess a patient-focused approach, adaptability to evolving clinical demands, and a dedication to continuous professional development.
