Position Overview

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Materials Engineer will be responsible for a broad range of technical and strategic duties, including:

• Material Selection and Evaluation: Assess and recommend appropriate materials for metro infrastructure projects, balancing performance requirements, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability to ensure long-term durability and reliability.
• Material Testing and Analysis: Conduct rigorous material testing and analysis using advanced laboratory equipment and industry-standard methodologies to verify compliance with project specifications and international standards.
• Development of Technical Standards: Create and implement comprehensive material specifications, testing protocols, and quality control procedures that align with global benchmarks and project-specific demands.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with design, construction, and procurement teams to address material-related challenges, optimize performance, and ensure seamless project execution.
• Failure Analysis and Corrective Actions: Investigate material failures through root cause analysis, develop corrective measures, and implement preventive strategies to mitigate future risks and enhance project integrity.
• Supplier and Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with material suppliers and vendors, ensuring consistent quality, adherence to delivery schedules, and alignment with project timelines.
• Technical Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and recommendations for stakeholders and management, providing clear insights into material performance and compliance status.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in materials engineering, with a proven track record in material selection, testing, and quality assurance within construction or infrastructure sectors.
• Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of material properties, behavior, and performance characteristics across diverse construction applications, with a focus on durability and sustainability.
• Laboratory Proficiency: Hands-on experience with materials testing equipment and laboratory procedures, including mechanical testing and non-destructive evaluation methods.
• Design and Modeling Tools: Familiarity with CAD software and materials modeling tools to support design analysis and material performance evaluation.
