IT Desktop Support Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive IT Desktop Support Engineer to join our long-term ongoing project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This role is ideal for an independent contractor with a strong background in IT infrastructure support, including hardware, software, and operating system troubleshooting. The successful candidate will provide desk-side support, perform PC break/fix operations, and ensure seamless functionality of desktop and peripheral equipment across our organization. This position offers a competitive monthly pay rate of $1,800 and requires a commitment to delivering high-quality technical assistance in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Hardware and Software Support: Install, configure, troubleshoot, and repair desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Networking Fundamentals: Provide smart hands support for networking equipment, including routers, switches, racks, and cabling. Demonstrate a working knowledge of LAN/WAN environments, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, and RDP protocols.
• Operating System Administration: Perform basic administration tasks for Windows-based systems, with familiarity in Mac and Linux environments considered a strong asset.
• Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, including network cabling problems, with a focus on root cause analysis and preventive measures to reduce recurring incidents.
• Ticket Management: Utilize ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Remedy to document, track, and resolve support requests efficiently, ensuring timely follow-up and customer satisfaction.
• Customer Service and Communication: Deliver exceptional customer service through clear, professional, and courteous interactions with end-users, stakeholders, and team members.
• Physical Requirements: Capable of lifting and moving equipment weighing up to 50 lbs, with the ability to perform tasks in various locations as needed.
• Independent Work Ethic: Operate autonomously with minimal supervision, manage deadlines effectively, and adapt to flexible scheduling requirements to meet organizational needs.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following:

• Experience: A minimum of 2–3 years in IT infrastructure field support, with hands-on expertise in hardware, software, and OS troubleshooting.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of desktop and peripheral device installation, configuration, and repair, along with networking concepts and protocols.
• Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrated aptitude for diagnosing technical issues, implementing solutions, and conducting repeat call analysis to prevent future occurrences.
• Certifications (Preferred): Associate degree in Electronics, CompTIA A+ certification, or manufacturer-specific certifications from vendors such as Dell or Lenovo.
• Soft Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Work Environment: Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adhere to flexible schedules as required by the project demands.

Location and Work Arrangement

This position is based at the Bin Sulaiman Building, Prince Sultan Street, Al Khalediyah District, P.O. Box 53744, Jeddah 21593, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The role is structured as a long-term independent contractor position, offering ongoing project opportunities without benefits. Candidates must be prepared to work on-site and comply with local labor regulations.
