We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Technical Safety Management Engineer to join our team, focusing on ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence within our energy storage and renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Occupational Health & Safety (HSE), electrical engineering, or a related discipline, combined with hands-on experience in managing safety protocols for large-scale power plants, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar PV installations, and electrical infrastructure. This role is critical in maintaining a secure working environment, mitigating risks, and upholding regulatory compliance in alignment with national and international safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
The Technical Safety Management Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing safety operations, conducting risk assessments, and implementing robust safety measures across our projects. The primary responsibilities include:

Enforce Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance in accordance with NFPA 70E, OSHA, and other relevant standards. Ensure proper maintenance of grounding systems and adherence to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) plans, Emergency Response Plans (ERP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Safety Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed daily and monthly hazard recognition reports, document corrective actions, and recommend measures to eliminate unsafe conditions. Verify the operational status of critical safety systems, including fire detection, gas detection, and explosion-prevention mechanisms. Maintain accurate records of PPE distribution, inspections, and compliance checks.
- Incident Management and Emergency Response: Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analyses, and prepare Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) reports. Conduct emergency drills for fire, chemical exposure, and electrocution scenarios, and coordinate with the Grid Control Center during emergency shutdowns. Serve as the primary liaison with emergency responders and regulatory authorities to ensure swift and effective incident resolution.
- Training and Safety Culture: Deliver safety induction programs and refresher training sessions to promote a proactive safety culture across all departments. Foster awareness and accountability among team members to uphold the highest safety standards.
- Site Leadership and Flexibility: Adhere to the directives of the site leader and demonstrate adaptability to flexible working hours and frequent travel requirements, as dictated by project demands.
Qualifications and Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Health & Safety, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in HSE roles, with a preference for candidates who have worked in renewable energy, BESS, power plants, solar PV, or electrical projects.
- BESS Expertise: Demonstrated experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems, including an understanding of safety risks associated with Battery Systems, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), Medium Voltage (MV) Skids, Energy Management Systems (EMS), and High Voltage (HV)/Medium Voltage (MV) systems.
- Regional Experience: Prior HSE experience in Saudi Arabia or on SEC (Saudi Electricity Company) projects is highly advantageous.
- Certifications: NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) and IOSH/OSHA certifications are strongly preferred. Familiarity with SEC HSE requirements and relevant Saudi standards is essential.
This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions while ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational integrity. The successful candidate will be a proactive problem-solver, a strong communicator, and a dedicated advocate for safety excellence.
