Planning Engineer

About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Planning Engineer to support a dynamic project in Hail. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the successful execution of the project by developing, maintaining, and monitoring comprehensive project schedules. Your responsibilities will encompass preparing and updating schedules, analyzing progress against plans, and identifying potential delays or deviations to proactively implement corrective measures. This position requires close collaboration with project management, site teams, technical offices, and cost control departments to ensure seamless integration of schedules, resources, and financial data.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule Development and Maintenance: Prepare, develop, and maintain the project baseline schedule using Primavera P6, including the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), activities, durations, logic, and milestones to establish a robust foundation for project execution.
• Progress Monitoring and Analysis: Regularly update the project schedule based on actual site progress, monitor planned versus actual progress, and identify schedule deviations to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Critical Path and Delay Analysis: Analyze delays, critical activities, and the project’s critical path to assess potential risks and recommend corrective actions to mitigate impacts on project timelines.
• Recovery and Corrective Planning: Develop and implement recovery plans and corrective action strategies when schedule deviations or delays are identified, ensuring minimal disruption to project milestones.
• Look-Ahead Scheduling: Prepare weekly and monthly look-ahead schedules in coordination with the site team to anticipate upcoming tasks, resource requirements, and potential bottlenecks.
• Resource and Productivity Tracking: Monitor manpower, equipment, resources, and productivity levels against the approved plan to ensure optimal utilization and alignment with project goals.
• Integration with Cost and Resource Data: Support the integration of the project schedule with cost and resource data to provide a holistic view of project performance and financial health.
• Reporting and Performance Measurement: Prepare S-curves, progress measurements, cash flow forecasts, and performance indicators to provide stakeholders with clear insights into project progress and financial trends.
• Progress Reporting: Develop and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports and presentations to keep all stakeholders informed and aligned on project status and upcoming milestones.
• Data Verification and Coordination: Collect, verify, and validate progress information received from site teams to ensure accuracy and reliability in reporting and decision-making.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with project management, site teams, technical offices, and cost control teams to ensure effective communication, alignment, and integration of project schedules and objectives.
• Meeting Participation and Analysis: Participate in progress meetings, provide detailed schedule analysis, and offer actionable recommendations to support informed decision-making and risk mitigation.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to progress, delays, changes, and schedule impacts to support audits, reviews, and future reference.

Requirements and Qualifications

To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of five years of hands-on experience in planning and project controls, with a strong preference for candidates with a background in construction and infrastructure projects.
• Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6 for schedule development, maintenance, and analysis.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other progress-reporting tools to enhance data analysis and reporting capabilities.
• In-depth understanding of planning, project controls, and cost control principles to ensure comprehensive project management.
• Proven ability to prepare and update schedules, analyze delays, and measure progress accurately and efficiently.
• Solid grasp of construction sequences, drawings, and productivity rates to ensure realistic and achievable scheduling.
• Exceptional analytical, reporting, communication, and coordination skills to facilitate seamless collaboration across all project stakeholders.
