IT Network Security Officer

Position Overview

The IT Network Security Officer plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the organization’s digital infrastructure by implementing and maintaining robust network security controls. This position is instrumental in aligning cybersecurity initiatives with business continuity objectives, ensuring the resilience, availability, and integrity of critical network services. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing network-related security incidents, enforcing compliance with international standards, and fostering a secure operational environment through proactive monitoring and strategic security measures.

Key Responsibilities

The IT Network Security Officer will undertake a comprehensive range of duties to uphold the highest standards of network security. These responsibilities include:

• Security Control Implementation and Administration: Deploy, configure, and maintain network security controls in strict adherence to ISO 27001 standards, ensuring robust protection against evolving cyber threats.
• Network Infrastructure Management: Oversee and secure core network components, including firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs, wireless networks, DNS, DHCP, and remote access solutions, to mitigate vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.
• Access and Segmentation Enforcement: Design, implement, and monitor secure network segmentation, access controls, routing policies, and traffic filtering mechanisms to restrict unauthorized lateral movement and enhance threat containment.
• Incident Response and Remediation: Lead the detection, investigation, and resolution of network security incidents, coordinating with cross-functional IT teams to execute timely remediation strategies and minimize operational disruptions.
• Continuous Monitoring and Visibility: Ensure comprehensive network visibility by integrating SIEM solutions, managing log repositories, and conducting real-time security monitoring to identify and address potential threats proactively.
• Security Audits and Compliance: Perform regular security reviews, configuration audits, firewall rule assessments, and vulnerability remediation to maintain a secure and compliant network environment in line with regulatory requirements.
• Third-Party and Cloud Connectivity: Facilitate secure connectivity for third-party vendors, cloud environments, VPNs, and disaster recovery infrastructure, ensuring seamless and protected interoperability.
• Change Management Support: Assess the security implications of network modifications, deployments, and infrastructure changes, providing expert guidance to mitigate risks during transition phases.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain meticulous records of network security policies, incident reports, audit evidence, and compliance documentation to support internal audits and regulatory assessments.
• Collaboration and Governance: Work closely with IT Governance and compliance teams to ensure alignment with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory mandates, fostering a culture of security awareness and accountability across the organization.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and professional attributes:

• Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
• Professional Experience: A minimum of 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in enterprise network administration and network security operations, with a proven track record in managing complex network environments.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in firewalls, routing, switching, VPNs, wireless networks, and secure connectivity solutions, complemented by a deep understanding of security best practices and industry standards.
