Process Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Process Engineer to join our team, playing a pivotal role in ensuring the optimal performance of our biological wastewater treatment systems. In this position, you will be responsible for monitoring treatment processes, analyzing operational data, and implementing adjustments to maintain compliance with regulatory standards while enhancing system efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in biological wastewater treatment, with a focus on process optimization and troubleshooting. This role is critical to sustaining high-performance operations and supporting the stabilization of our Fixed Carrier Reactor (FCR) systems during mobilization and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Process Monitoring and Optimization: Continuously evaluate biological treatment performance by reviewing influent variability, process trends, laboratory data, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) information. Recommend and implement operating setpoints and process adjustments to ensure consistent effluent compliance with regulatory requirements.
• FCR Stabilization and Troubleshooting: Provide technical support for the stabilization of Fixed Carrier Reactor (FCR) systems, including conducting biological testing, analyzing performance data, and identifying opportunities for optimization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address process upsets and deviations through root-cause analysis and corrective action plans.
• Technical Coordination and Training: Serve as the primary liaison with the Technology Provider during the mobilization and handover phases of FCR systems. Coordinate technical matters, facilitate training sessions, and ensure seamless knowledge transfer to internal teams to support long-term operational success.
• Data Interpretation and Reporting: Demonstrate expertise in interpreting complex process, laboratory, and SCADA trends to identify performance trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement. Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
• Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all project-specific safety protocols, emergency procedures, and regulatory compliance standards. Complete mandatory project induction and safety training prior to assuming independent duties. Maintain up-to-date certifications and training records as required by the project and regulatory bodies.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring the following qualifications and experience to the role:

• Direct Experience: Hands-on experience in biological wastewater process engineering and optimization, with a proven track record of improving system performance and compliance.
• Specialized Knowledge: Familiarity with attached-growth or fixed-bed biological treatment systems, particularly Fixed Carrier Reactor (FCR) technology. While prior Organica FCR experience is advantageous, comprehensive project-specific training will be provided during mobilization to ensure full competency.
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional ability to interpret and analyze process, laboratory, and SCADA data to identify trends, diagnose issues, and recommend corrective actions. Competency in this area will be validated through practical assessments during the mobilization and training phases.
• Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with technology providers, internal teams, and external stakeholders. Ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats.

Mobilization and Competency Requirements

To ensure seamless integration into the team and project objectives, the Process Engineer must meet the following mobilization and competency requirements:

• Project Induction and Safety Training: Complete all mandatory project induction and safety/emergency training programs prior to assuming independent operational duties. This includes familiarization with site-specific safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
• System-Specific Training: Participate in comprehensive training sessions tailored to the FCR system, SCADA operations, and major plant equipment during the handover phase. This training is designed to equip the engineer with the knowledge and skills required for effective role performance.
• Certification and Training Records: Maintain all role-required certifications and training records in compliance with project and regulatory standards. Ensure timely participation in annual refresher courses and cross-training programs to enhance skill sets and operational versatility.
• Competency Matrix Integration: Be included in the project’s competency matrix, with all training, certification statuses, and cross-training capabilities documented and maintained throughout the deployment period. This ensures continuous professional development and alignment with project goals.
