Are you a seasoned maritime professional with a proven track record in pilotage, ship handling, and operational leadership? Join our esteemed team as a Senior Marine Pilot at JCPDI Port, where your expertise will be instrumental in delivering unparalleled safety, efficiency, and professionalism in pilotage services. This role offers a dynamic environment where your skills will directly contribute to the seamless navigation of vessels through critical port facilities, including Saudi Aramco operations and the Single Point Mooring (SPM).

As a Senior Marine Pilot, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels—whether arriving, departing, berthing, or unberthing—within JCPDI Port limits and associated offshore locations. Your responsibilities will span navigational guidance, risk assessment, and operational coordination, aligning with international best practices, company safety standards, and regulatory compliance. This is more than a job; it’s an opportunity to shape maritime safety and operational excellence in one of the region’s most critical port environments.

Key Responsibilities

Your impact will be felt across multiple facets of marine operations:

  • Safe and Efficient Pilotage Operations: Conduct high-stakes pilotage for diverse vessel types, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, Harbour Master Instructions, and international maritime regulations.
  • Navigational Leadership: Provide expert navigational advice to vessel Masters and bridge teams, leveraging your deep understanding of weather, sea state, tides, currents, and traffic patterns to guide safe vessel movements.
  • Operational Coordination: Develop and communicate comprehensive pilotage and berthing plans in collaboration with vessel Masters, tug Masters, mooring teams, VTS, and terminal representatives to optimize vessel handling and port operations.
  • Tug and Mooring Management: Direct tug usage and mooring arrangements during critical operations, ensuring precision and efficiency in berthing, unberthing, and vessel shifting.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to Harbour Master Instructions, port regulations, and national/international maritime standards, while upholding company procedures and safety protocols.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of pilotage records, reports, and documentation to support operational transparency and compliance.
  • Safety and Incident Management: Actively participate in incident investigations, safety meetings, emergency response exercises, and operational reviews, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and HSE excellence.
  • Mentorship and Development: Mentor junior pilots and contribute to the enhancement of marine safety, operational efficiency, and customer service standards within the team.
  • 24/7 Operational Readiness: Embrace a 9-weeks-on, 9-weeks-off rotation schedule, remaining fully available to meet the demands of a dynamic and mission-critical operational environment.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must bring a wealth of experience and expertise:

  • Certifications: Hold a Master Mariner Class 1 (Unlimited) Certificate of Competency, a valid medical fitness certification, and completion of IMO Resolution A.960 Pilot Training or an equivalent recognized pilot training program.
  • Industry Experience: Demonstrate a minimum of 10 years as a Marine Pilot, with specialized experience in harbour, tanker, offshore, and SPM pilotage operations. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in major commercial ports, industrial ports, or oil and gas terminals.
  • Technical Proficiency: Possess an in-depth knowledge of ship handling, tug operations, Bridge Resource Management (BRM), and modern navigation systems, including ECDIS, radar, and pilotage equipment.
  • Regional Exposure: Prior experience in the Middle East or Saudi Arabia, along with familiarity with VTS operations, port management systems, container terminal operations, and bulk cargo handling.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic is a significant advantage.
  • Leadership and Decision-Making: Exhibit strong leadership, situational awareness, risk assessment skills, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
