Position Overview
Penta Consulting, a distinguished technology service provider and leading outsourced partner, is expanding its team with a dynamic MQ and WebSphere Administrator. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end administration, configuration, and optimization of IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) and IBM MQ environments across EMEA-based clients. Key Responsibilities
As a MQ and WebSphere Administrator, your core responsibilities will encompass the following areas:
- WebSphere Application Server Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS) environments, ensuring high availability, security, and performance.
- Administer and manage IBM HTTP Server (IHS) and associated middleware components to support seamless application delivery.
- Deploy and support Java EE applications across development, testing, and production environments, adhering to best practices for deployment and lifecycle management.
- Optimize JVM settings and perform performance tuning to enhance application responsiveness and resource utilization.
- Configure and manage clustering and load balancing solutions to ensure scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability of enterprise applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in WebSphere environments, providing timely and effective production support.
- IBM MQ Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM MQ queue managers, channels, listeners, and other critical MQ objects to facilitate reliable message processing.
- Manage distributed queue management systems and MQ clustering environments to ensure efficient message routing and delivery.
- Monitor queue activity, message flow, queue depth, and system performance to proactively identify and address potential bottlenecks or issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and maintain secure, high-performance messaging infrastructure.
Required Skills & Experience
To excel in this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- WebSphere Application Server:
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience administering IBM WebSphere Application Server environments.
- Proven expertise with IBM WebSphere Application Server v9.0.5.x, with a preference for v9.0.5.17 or later.
- Strong proficiency in Java EE deployment, including JDBC, JMS, and JNDI configurations.
- Experience with JVM tuning and performance optimization to ensure optimal application performance.
- Familiarity with clustering and load balancing strategies to support scalable and resilient enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated ability to provide production support and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
- IBM MQ:
- Hands-on experience administering IBM MQ queue managers, channels, and listeners.
- Knowledge of distributed queue management and MQ clustering environments.
- Ability to monitor and analyze queue activity, message flow, and system performance.
- Additional Requirements:
