Hardware Technician I

About the Role

Hexagon Autonomous Solutions is seeking a skilled and meticulous Hardware Technician I to provide expert technical support and project execution for mining systems across various customer sites. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful deployment, configuration, and maintenance of advanced autonomous solutions in demanding industrial environments. The Hardware Technician will serve as a critical point of contact for on-site and remote system support, troubleshooting, and escalation management, while collaborating closely with project managers and engineering teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Hardware Technician I will be responsible for a diverse range of technical and operational duties, including:

• System Deployment and Configuration: Execute the deployment of new and upgraded mining systems at customer sites, including loading configurations, upgrades, and operating systems onto computing equipment (field and servers) in accordance with defined change management procedures.
• Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide site-based and remote support to diagnose and resolve technical issues, serving as a primary escalation point for the team. Work collaboratively to resolve problems outside the scope of project engineers and other technical staff.
• Project Coordination: Assist project managers in planning and executing efficient system deployments, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Contribute to the definition of project phases, elements, and schedules, as well as the preparation of cost estimates.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate project databases, including records of deployed systems and their configurations. Develop and update procedures and system reports in response to customer requests and operational needs.
• Compliance and Safety: Ensure all activities align with Hexagon’s Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE), Ethics & Compliance policies, and customer-specific regulations. Uphold the company’s brand and reputation by adhering to safety protocols and reporting noncompliance issues promptly.
• Customer Relations: Establish and maintain strong working relationships with customer personnel, communicating effectively to address issues and ensure smooth project execution. Act as a liaison between the customer and internal teams to foster collaboration and trust.
• Continuous Improvement: Monitor market trends and emerging technologies to recommend solutions that enhance project efficiency and system performance. Seek opportunities to improve the quality of installations, support procedures, and overall operational excellence.
• Environmental Adaptability: Work in varied environments, including office settings and challenging industrial sites characterized by extreme temperatures, noise, dust, and heights. Demonstrate resilience and adaptability to ensure project success under diverse conditions.

• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with technology applications in harsh industrial environments, including mining systems. Strong analytical skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Project Management: Ability to define and review project proposals, develop project plans, and monitor progress to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with customers, managers, technicians, and engineers at all levels. Sensitivity to varying technical expertise among stakeholders.

Working Conditions

The Hardware Technician I will operate in a flexible environment that includes office-based tasks and on-site deployments at customer locations. Site-based work may involve exposure to challenging conditions such as extreme temperatures, noise, dust, and heights. Candidates must be prepared to travel as required and demonstrate a commitment to safety and operational excellence in all aspects of their role.
