Role Summary

Our mission is to transform the lives of individuals living with chronic non-communicable diseases through the development and delivery of groundbreaking medicines, supportive technologies, and healthcare services. In Saudi Arabia, we are establishing a dedicated BioPharma Business Unit (BBU) to address the needs of millions of patients suffering from conditions in therapeutic areas such as Cardiovascular, Renal, and Metabolism. As we strengthen our leadership position and accelerate the launch of our new pipeline, we are seeking an Inhaled Portfolio (Asthma and COPD) Lead to join our Medical Affairs team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Inhaled Portfolio Medical Lead will report directly to the KSA BBU Medical Director and serve as a key member of the KSA BBU Medical Affairs Leadership team. This role is pivotal in providing therapeutic area leadership to implement and adapt AstraZeneca’s global and international Asthma and COPD Medical Affairs strategy. The successful candidate will lead a team of medical affairs professionals, including Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) and Medical Advisors, and oversee the execution of medical activities to drive impactful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Provide expert guidance in building the therapeutic area (TA) medical organization, creating a compelling TA medical vision and ambition aligned with AstraZeneca’s KSA Vision 2030. Collaborate closely with the Medical Director to ensure strategic alignment and execution.
• Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a high-performing KSA BBU medical team, including field medical professionals. Foster a culture of mentorship, coaching, and professional growth while ensuring seamless integration with cross-functional brand teams to maximize collective impact.
• External Engagement and Advocacy: Lead the development of AstraZeneca’s external TA leadership, advocacy, and enduring partnerships with key medical institutions, clinics, research centers, and thought leader networks across KSA. Establish collaborations that enhance our scientific reputation and drive meaningful engagement.
• Operational and Compliance Excellence: Ensure all inhaled TA medical operational and compliance processes are in place, driving continuous process development and integration with AstraZeneca’s applicable policies and procedures in KSA. Maintain full compliance with local laws, regulations, and global and KSA-specific policies, SOPs, and guidance.
• Patient-Centric Approach: Champion a patient-centric mindset in all activities, including developing collaborations with Patient Association Groups (PAGs). Elevate disease area awareness, partner with healthcare professionals (HCPs) and PAGs on patient identification initiatives, and provide subject matter expertise in areas such as presentation reviews, abstracts, publications, and advisory boards.
• Medical Expertise and Collaboration: Offer subject matter expertise to support the development and review of scientific content, ensuring alignment with medical and regulatory standards. Contribute to the continuous improvement of medical strategies and initiatives to drive patient outcomes.
