Water Process Engineering Manager

Position Overview

Rawafid is seeking a seasoned and highly motivated Water Process Engineering Manager to lead and oversee the technical aspects of water and wastewater treatment systems. This pivotal role demands a strategic approach to the design, development, optimization, and operation of treatment facilities, ensuring alignment with technical, regulatory, and project-specific requirements. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance to project teams, collaborate with clients and stakeholders, and deliver innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, sustainability, and compliance. Key Responsibilities

The Water Process Engineering Manager will play a central role in driving the success of water and wastewater treatment projects by executing the following responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Provide expert technical leadership in the design, operation, and optimization of water and wastewater treatment facilities, ensuring adherence to industry best practices and regulatory standards.
• Process Innovation and Evaluation: Develop, evaluate, model, and simulate advanced water and wastewater treatment technologies and processes to enhance performance, efficiency, and sustainability.
• Process Audits and Optimization: Conduct comprehensive process audits and assessments to identify opportunities for operational improvements, cost reductions, and performance enhancements in existing treatment systems.
• Process Modeling and Simulation: Utilize approved engineering software to prepare detailed process models, mathematical simulations, and sensitivity analyses, providing data-driven insights for decision-making.
• Design Documentation: Develop and review critical engineering documents, including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), mass balance calculations, process calculations, design reports, and technical specifications.
• Equipment Sizing and Specifications: Perform detailed sizing and specifications for water process equipment, pumping and lifting stations, tanks, dry wells, and wet wells, ensuring optimal performance within water/sewer networks and treatment plants.
• Cost Estimation and BOQs: Prepare both priced and unpriced Bills of Quantities (BOQs) and support engineering cost estimates to facilitate accurate budgeting and project planning.
• Operational Documentation: Develop comprehensive operation and maintenance manuals, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), to ensure seamless facility operations and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshooting and Resolution: Diagnose and resolve complex process and operational issues in water and wastewater treatment plants, implementing corrective actions to restore optimal performance.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure that process designs integrate seamlessly with civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a liaison between Rawafid, clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout project execution.
• Project Delivery and Compliance: Support the successful delivery of projects in accordance with technical specifications, schedule constraints, quality standards, and budgetary requirements.
• Knowledge Management: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes in the water and wastewater sector, incorporating innovations to enhance project outcomes.
• Mentorship and Development: Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following professional and educational requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
• Professional Experience: Minimum of 7-12 years of progressive experience in water and wastewater treatment process engineering, with a minimum of 7 years of in-Kingdom (Saudi Arabia) experience.
• Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in the design, analysis, optimization, and troubleshooting of water and wastewater treatment systems, including process calculations, mass balances, and equipment sizing.
• Design Proficiency: Hands-on experience in preparing P&IDs, BFDs, design reports, technical specifications, BOQs, and operation and maintenance documentation.
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, environmental regulations, and applicable engineering standards, such as those set by the Saudi Water Authority and other regulatory bodies.
• Project Delivery: Proven track record of working on water and wastewater treatment projects within engineering, construction, EPC, or related environments, ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery.
• Collaboration Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
• Professional Certifications: Valid certification from the Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) is mandatory. Professional Engineer (PE) certification is highly desirable.
