About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer with a proven track record in airport infrastructure projects to join our dynamic team based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) team, contributing to the planning, design review, construction supervision, quality assurance, and multidisciplinary coordination of airport-related infrastructure and building projects. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of airside civil works, including aircraft aprons, pavements, taxiway interfaces, internal roads, earthworks, drainage systems, and associated utilities, all while adhering to stringent industry standards and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of technical activities to ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of airport infrastructure projects. Your core duties will include:

• Design and Construction Supervision: Review and supervise the design and construction of aircraft aprons, taxiways, airside pavements, service roads, and other critical airport infrastructure components, ensuring alignment with project requirements and approved drawings.
• Pavement Engineering: Oversee pavement engineering activities, including the design and construction of rigid, flexible, heavy-duty, and aircraft stand pavements, with a focus on compliance with applicable standards such as ICAO, GACAR, FAA, and Saudi Building Code.
• Earthworks and Drainage: Monitor and manage earthworks, grading, excavation, compaction, drainage, and roadworks within operational airport environments, ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations.
• Geotechnical and Survey Coordination: Review and coordinate geotechnical investigations, borehole surveys, topographical surveys, and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) scanning activities to inform design and construction decisions.
• Multidisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate closely with various engineering disciplines, including Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL), drainage, utilities, fuel hydrant systems, ICT/CNS, electrical, structural, architectural, and MEP systems, to ensure seamless integration of airport infrastructure.
• Design Review and Technical Submissions: Conduct thorough design reviews at all stages—Concept, Schematic, Detailed Design, Tender, and Issued for Construction (IFC)—and evaluate technical submissions such as RFIs, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and as-built documentation.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance: Perform site inspections to monitor contractor performance, workmanship, quality control, testing, and compliance with approved designs and industry standards, ensuring adherence to safety and technical specifications.
• Stakeholder Management: Support the PMC and project management teams through technical reporting, issue resolution, stakeholder coordination, and progress monitoring to facilitate the timely and successful delivery of projects.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you will possess the following qualifications and professional attributes:

• Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Professional Engineering certification is highly desirable.
• Experience: Minimum of 9 years of comprehensive Civil Engineering experience, with at least 3 years dedicated to airport, aviation, or airside infrastructure projects.
• Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in airside civil works, aircraft pavements, airport roads, earthworks, grading, geotechnical investigations, boreholes, topographical surveys, GPR scanning, design review, and construction supervision. Strong knowledge of airport standards, including ICAO Annex 14, GACAR, FAA Advisory Circulars, ASTM, AASHTO, and the Saudi Building Code, is essential.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Experience with BIM, Common Data Environment (CDE), or Electronic Document Management Systems (EDMS) is advantageous.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional technical acumen, strong communication abilities, and adept stakeholder management skills to effectively collaborate with contractors, consultants, airport operations, and multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Background

While not mandatory, candidates with the following experience will be highly favored:

• Prior experience in PMC, consultancy, or client-side supervision roles within the aviation sector.
• Familiarity with working in operational airport environments, managing airside constraints, phased construction activities, and safety-critical infrastructure.
