Job Purpose
As a Financial Control – Senior Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting for assigned entities. Your responsibilities will encompass managing critical accounting processes, including leases, employee benefits, and expected credit losses (ECL), while ensuring full compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). This position requires a strategic approach to financial oversight, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of financial transparency and accountability.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
- Financial Reporting and Compliance: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in alignment with group timelines, ensuring adherence to IFRS standards. Conduct impact assessments for new or revised accounting standards and collaborate with auditors to meet all disclosure and audit requirements.
- Accounting Oversight: Review and approve journal entries for intercompany transactions, leases, provisions, and other general ledger activities. Lead the verification of system-generated financial data from the ERP to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Technical Accounting Leadership: Support the Financial Reporting Director in developing internal reporting manuals, technical accounting memos, and accounting policies and procedures. Prepare relevant notes for financial statements and technical memos as required.
- Consolidation and Data Management: Review quarterly consolidation packages from subsidiaries for completeness and accuracy. Collect and update standing data for property leases, and manage the full accounting and finance function for assigned entities.
- Audit and Variance Analysis: Monitor and address data requests from external auditors promptly. Analyze variances in ECL computations across subsidiaries, providing clear explanations for reporting figures and ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with the Group Reporting Director and the Group Chief Financial Officer (GCFO) to prepare and support necessary reporting packages. Assist in the roll-forward of quarterly financial statements and ensure all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance financial reporting processes, streamline accounting procedures, and implement best practices to drive efficiency and compliance.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities
- Deep understanding of IFRS and technical accounting principles, with the ability to apply them in complex financial scenarios.
- Exceptional analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of financial data and reporting.
- Proven ability to meet strict deadlines while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Financial Reporting, Audit, or a related field, with a track record of delivering high-quality financial insights.
Language and Certifications
- Fluency in both English and Arabic, with excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Professional certifications such as SOCPA, ACCA, CPA, or ACA are highly desirable.
