Role Summary: Medical Science Liaison – Neurology

As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) specializing in Neurology, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between scientific innovation and clinical practice. In this position, you will serve as a key liaison between AstraZeneca’s Medical Affairs team and healthcare professionals (HCPs) in the field of neurology, ensuring the appropriate and evidence-based use of our therapies. Your expertise will be instrumental in advancing disease understanding, supporting clinical decision-making, and ultimately improving patient outcomes in a high-priority therapeutic area.

Reporting to the Medical Manager for Neurology, you will be responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with leading experts, including physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and pharmacists, as well as engaging with patient advocacy groups. Your role will involve delivering educational programs on disease states and therapeutic advancements, responding to scientific inquiries, and providing balanced, evidence-based insights to support the optimal use of AstraZeneca’s neurology portfolio. Additionally, you will monitor emerging therapies and therapeutic trends, gather valuable customer insights, and contribute to the development of medical and commercial strategies while ensuring full compliance with regulatory and internal standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Scientific Leadership Engagement: Build, enhance, and maintain strategic relationships with key external experts (KEEs) in the neurology field to foster collaboration, gather insights, and advance scientific dialogue.
• Market Insights and Clinical Trends: Provide AstraZeneca with a comprehensive understanding of the local medical community, including clinical practice trends, HCP insights, and gaps in scientific knowledge or medical treatment within the neurology landscape.
• Data Dissemination: Share emerging clinical data and scientific findings with HCPs in an objective, balanced, and scientifically rigorous manner, ensuring alignment with Medical Affairs strategies.
• Partnership in Scientific Initiatives: Collaborate with HCPs as partners in scientific activities that advance disease understanding and align with AstraZeneca’s Medical Affairs objectives. This includes participating in advisory boards, symposia, and other educational forums.
• Therapeutic Expertise: Maintain deep expertise in disease state management, therapeutic advancements, and the evolving neurology landscape. Stay abreast of regulatory updates, emerging therapies, and clinical guidelines to provide informed guidance.
• Customer Insights and Strategy Support: Gather and analyze customer insights regarding the use of AstraZeneca’s therapies in the context of the broader therapeutic landscape. Contribute these insights to inform medical and commercial strategies while ensuring adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements.
• Regulatory and Compliance Adherence: Ensure all interactions and communications with external stakeholders comply with AstraZeneca’s internal policies, regulatory guidelines, and industry standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you will bring a strong scientific and clinical background in neurology, along with a proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with healthcare professionals. A Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a medical or scientific role, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry or a clinical setting. Excellent communication skills, a passion for scientific education, and the ability to translate complex medical information into actionable insights are essential. You will also demonstrate a commitment to patient-centric care, ethical conduct, and continuous learning in a dynamic healthcare environment.
