Key Responsibilities

The Senior Accountant will play a central role in maintaining the financial health of Sealy Mattress Middle East by performing a wide range of accounting duties. Your responsibilities will include:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local regulatory requirements. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reports for internal stakeholders and external auditors.
• General Ledger Management: Oversee the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded, reconciled, and classified. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with senior management to develop, monitor, and analyze budgets and financial forecasts. Provide actionable insights to optimize resource allocation and improve financial performance.
• Tax Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of tax returns, including VAT, corporate tax, and other statutory obligations. Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
• Internal Controls and Audit Support: Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Assist internal and external auditors during periodic audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Cost Analysis and Management: Conduct detailed cost analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings. Provide recommendations to enhance profitability and operational efficiency.
• Team Leadership and Mentorship: Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. Delegate tasks effectively to ensure timely completion of financial activities.
• Strategic Financial Planning: Contribute to long-term financial strategies by analyzing financial data, identifying growth opportunities, and presenting data-driven recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CMA is highly preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting or supervisory role. Experience in the manufacturing or retail industry is a plus.
• Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of accounting software (e.g., ERP systems) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, particularly in financial modeling and data analysis. Familiarity with IFRS and local tax regulations is essential.
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail. Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate it into actionable insights.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Arabic. Ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to non-financial stakeholders.
• Leadership and Collaboration: Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide junior team members. Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and executive leadership.
