API Connect Developer - Remote

As an API Connect Developer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust API solutions that seamlessly integrate applications, data, and services across complex enterprise environments. Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle of API development and management, ensuring seamless connectivity, security, and governance. Your core duties will include:

• API Development and Configuration: Design, develop, and configure RESTful APIs using IBM API Connect, ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements. Utilize OpenAPI and Swagger for API definitions to maintain clarity and standardization.
• API Lifecycle Management: Oversee the complete API lifecycle, from development and testing to deployment, versioning, and retirement, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption.
• Gateway Policy Configuration: Implement and manage API Gateway policies for authentication, authorization, security, rate limiting, throttling, routing, and traffic management to optimize performance and protect sensitive data.
• Security Implementation: Integrate robust security measures using OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS/SSL, and other industry-standard protocols to safeguard APIs against vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.
• Integration and Troubleshooting: Develop and maintain integrations with backend applications, databases, middleware platforms, and external systems using REST, SOAP, HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, and XML. Diagnose and resolve API connectivity, performance, and integration issues promptly.
• Monitoring and Support: Monitor API performance, traffic patterns, errors, and availability to ensure optimal functionality. Provide production support, including incident resolution and defect management, to maintain high service levels.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with solution architects, developers, QA, infrastructure, security, and DevOps teams to align on technical standards, governance, and best practices. Prepare and maintain comprehensive API specifications, technical documentation, deployment guides, and support procedures.
• Portal and Publishing Management: Configure and maintain the API Developer Portal, ensuring seamless publishing processes and consumer access management for API products, plans, and subscriptions.

Qualifications and Skills

To excel in this role, you will bring a blend of technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and collaborative mindset. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience: 6-8 years of hands-on experience in API management, API development, and enterprise integration, with a strong focus on IBM API Connect (APIC).
• Technical Proficiency:
  • Expertise in designing and developing REST APIs, with in-depth knowledge of OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
  • Proven experience configuring API Gateway policies for routing, authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling, and security (OAuth 2.0, JWT, TLS/SSL).
  • Strong background in integrating APIs with enterprise applications, databases, and middleware, utilizing HTTP/HTTPS, SOAP, JSON, and XML.
  • Familiarity with API lifecycle management across Development, UAT, and Production environments, including versioning, deployment, testing, and retirement.
  • Experience adhering to API design and security standards, participating in secure API design reviews, and supporting structured release and change-management processes.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and spoken English for technical documentation, API specifications, troubleshooting, and collaboration with global teams. Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is a plus for coordinating with local Saudi stakeholders and teams.
