Civil Engineer

Position Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). In this pivotal role, you will provide technical leadership and comprehensive oversight across all aspects of roads, highways, and infrastructure projects, ensuring strict adherence to KSA regulatory standards, client specifications, and globally recognized best practices. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving the successful delivery of high-quality infrastructure that meets the evolving needs of our clients and communities.

Key Responsibilities

As a Civil Engineer at AtkinsRéalis, your core responsibilities will include:

• Technical Leadership and Oversight: Lead and oversee all road, highway, and infrastructure works, ensuring full compliance with KSA standards, client requirements, and international engineering best practices.
• Design and Construction Review: Evaluate and assess road geometry, pavement designs, drainage systems, utilities coordination, and traffic management plans to ensure alignment with project objectives and regulatory standards.
• Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with design consultants, contractors, and construction teams to review drawings, specifications, calculations, and construction methodologies, fostering a collaborative and efficient project environment.
• Site Inspections and Quality Assurance: Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress, quality, and compliance with approved designs, specifications, and safety protocols, ensuring that all work meets the highest standards of excellence.
• Supervision of Infrastructure Works: Oversee and monitor critical construction activities, including earthworks, asphalt works, concrete works, culverts, road furniture, and associated infrastructure, to ensure timely and high-quality execution.
• Documentation and Reporting: Review and approve method statements, material submittals, shop drawings, and temporary traffic management plans. Prepare and review technical reports, inspection records, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), correspondence, and progress documentation to maintain transparency and accountability.
• Risk Management and Problem Solving: Identify construction risks, non-conformances, and technical challenges, proposing practical and timely engineering solutions to mitigate issues and ensure project success.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a technical interface between AtkinsRéalis, the client, contractors, and relevant local authorities on all road-related engineering matters, facilitating clear communication and alignment among all stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable institution, with a strong academic foundation in structural and infrastructure design.
• A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a proven track record in road construction supervision, including expertise in earthworks, pavement layers, drainage systems, and utilities coordination.
• In-depth knowledge of KSA road standards, specifications, and construction practices, including familiarity with MOT, municipal, or other relevant authority standards.
• Proficiency in industry-leading software tools such as Civil 3D, MX Road, OpenRoads, or similar, with a strong understanding of pavement design methodologies.
• A solid grasp of traffic management principles, site safety practices, and construction sequencing to ensure the smooth and efficient execution of projects.
• Exceptional communication and coordination skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders across diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with meticulous attention to detail, to navigate complex engineering challenges and deliver optimal solutions.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment, ensuring that deadlines are met without compromising on quality or safety.
