Site Civil Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Site Civil Engineer to join our dynamic team and oversee the execution of large-scale construction projects. This pivotal role ensures that all construction activities adhere to contractual, technical, and quality standards, delivering projects that meet or exceed expectations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in civil engineering, extensive site supervision experience, and a proven ability to manage complex projects with precision and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

The Site Civil Engineer will play a critical role in monitoring and managing all aspects of construction to guarantee compliance with project requirements. Your responsibilities will include:

• Construction Monitoring: Ensuring that all work is completed in strict accordance with contract specifications, identifying deviations, and proposing corrective actions in collaboration with stakeholders to realign progress with project deliverables.
• Quality Assurance & Control: Conducting thorough reviews of construction progress and quality control measures to maintain high standards throughout the project lifecycle.
• Team Leadership & Supervision: Managing, supervising, and mentoring subordinate engineers and site staff to ensure optimal performance and adherence to project timelines.
• Technical Coordination: Overseeing the review and approval process for Requests for Information (RFIs) and shop drawing submittals, ensuring timely responses from consultants and contractors. Monitoring the number of resubmittals required to achieve approval and verifying the availability and suitability of drawings and data for ongoing work.
• Documentation & Reporting: Maintaining accurate records, including Daily Reports, and ensuring compliance with approved method statements and contractual obligations.
• Consultant & Contractor Oversight: Evaluating the quality and timeliness of inspections, product information, and coordination provided by consultants and contractors, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
• Schedule & Resource Management: Monitoring staffing levels, skill suitability for outstanding tasks, and the overall progress of submittals against scheduled milestones to prevent delays.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you must meet the following qualifications and possess the following skills:

• Education & Experience: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, coupled with a minimum of five years of hands-on site supervision experience, preferably in mega projects.
• Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of contract conditions and strong computer literacy to manage documentation, reports, and project tracking systems efficiently.
• Leadership & Soft Skills: Demonstrated leadership abilities, team-building skills, negotiation expertise, and commercial awareness to navigate complex project dynamics.
• Personal Attributes: A self-starter with excellent communication skills, confidence, approachability, and a keen attention to detail. You should be collaborative, proactive in seeking continuous improvement, and adept at fostering a positive working environment.
• Desirable Qualifications: Experience in the Gulf region, chartered membership in a professional engineering institute, and strong administrative, coaching, delegation, and presentation skills are advantageous.
