Data Governance Expert – Drive Strategic Data Excellence at Specialized
Join our dynamic team as a **Data Governance Expert**, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping and enhancing Specialized’s data governance framework. In this strategic position, you will ensure alignment with global regulatory standards, including NDMO and PDPL requirements, while fostering a culture of data integrity, privacy, and operational excellence. Your expertise will be instrumental in aligning data governance initiatives with stc Group directives, driving compliance, and optimizing data-driven decision-making across the organization.
As a key contributor to Specialized’s data governance ecosystem, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders to design, implement, and refine policies, standards, and controls that govern data architecture, classification, lifecycle management, and Identity and Access Management (IAM). Your work will directly impact data quality, regulatory adherence, and the organization’s ability to leverage data as a strategic asset.
Key Responsibilities
Your role will encompass a broad spectrum of responsibilities, ensuring that data governance practices are robust, scalable, and aligned with both business objectives and regulatory mandates:
- Enterprise Data Architecture: Support the development and maintenance of Specialized’s enterprise data architecture, ensuring seamless integration with business goals and adherence to stc Group data management standards.
- Regulatory Compliance Monitoring: Track and analyze KPIs related to NDMO and PDPL domain maturity, identifying gaps and proposing actionable improvements to enhance compliance and operational efficiency.
- Identity and Access Management (IAM): Contribute to the implementation and upkeep of the IAM framework, establishing policies and controls that safeguard data accessibility while mitigating risks.
- Policy Development and Documentation: Implement and maintain data governance policies, standards, and guidelines in full alignment with stc Group directives and applicable regulations. Ensure these documents are centralized, accurate, and easily accessible for all stakeholders.
- Data Classification and Lifecycle Management: Lead the implementation of data classification frameworks and lifecycle management practices, covering data retention, archival, and secure disposal to optimize data utility and minimize risks.
- Open Data Management: Execute and coordinate open data initiatives, including dataset identification, preparation, publication, and periodic updates. Conduct rigorous quality reviews to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of published datasets and associated metadata.
- Privacy and Compliance Controls: Monitor open data activities and enforce privacy and data protection controls to ensure compliance with national data classification and privacy regulations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with internal stakeholders to prioritize open data publication objectives and align them with organizational transparency goals. Act as a bridge between technical teams and business units to foster a collaborative data governance culture.
- Awareness and Advocacy: Support data governance and open data awareness initiatives in partnership with the Data Governance Council, promoting best practices and driving organizational buy-in.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance data governance practices by leveraging regulatory developments, operational insights, and industry best practices, ensuring Specialized remains at the forefront of data management innovation.
Qualifications and Skills
To excel in this role, you will bring a blend of technical expertise, regulatory acumen, and a proactive mindset. We are seeking a candidate with:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Management, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience in data governance, data management, regulatory compliance, or a related domain, demonstrating a strong track record of driving policy implementation and stakeholder alignment.
- Proven expertise in data governance frameworks, including data architecture, classification, lifecycle management, and IAM, with a focus on ensuring compliance with global and regional regulations.
- Fluent English proficiency to effectively communicate complex data governance concepts to diverse stakeholders and collaborate across international teams.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify gaps in data governance practices, propose solutions, and measure the impact of implemented improvements.
- Strong stakeholder management abilities to engage with business leaders, technical teams, and regulatory bodies, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of data accuracy, privacy, and security in all governance activities.
