Key Responsibilities

As a Data Center Technician, your role will encompass a broad spectrum of technical and operational duties, ensuring the integrity and performance of our data center infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include:

• Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance: Expertly install, configure, and maintain server and network hardware, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. Execute hardware deployments and decommissions with precision, adhering to industry best practices.
• Structured Cabling and Infrastructure: Perform structured cabling for both copper and fiber optic networks, including Cat6/6a and OM3/OM4/OS2 fiber, to meet stringent connectivity standards. Manage rack and stack operations with meticulous attention to detail.
• Environmental and Security Monitoring: Monitor and maintain critical environmental systems, including power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), and cooling systems. Ensure robust security protocols are enforced within the data center environment.
• Incident Response and Troubleshooting: Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and respond swiftly to incidents to minimize downtime. Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and methodologies to maintain operational continuity.
• Documentation and Asset Management: Maintain comprehensive documentation of all hardware, configurations, and maintenance activities. Track assets efficiently using data center infrastructure management (DCIM) platforms to ensure transparency and accountability.
• Collaboration and Capacity Planning: Work closely with engineering and operations teams to support capacity planning, upgrades, and strategic initiatives. Contribute to the continuous improvement of data center infrastructure and processes.

Qualifications and Skills

• Relevant Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of experience in data center operations, with a strong foundation in maintaining and optimizing critical infrastructure.
• Technical Expertise: Proven expertise in structured cabling (Cat6/6a, OM3/OM4/OS2 fiber), rack and stack operations, and understanding of power distribution and UPS systems. Familiarity with DCIM platforms is a significant advantage.
• Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: A track record of strong troubleshooting abilities and the capacity to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• Certifications: Preferred certifications include CDCP, CDCS, CDCE (Data Center Certifications), as well as vendor-specific certifications such as Dell, HPE, and Cisco. Network certifications like CCNA or JNCIA are highly valued.
• ITIL Knowledge: Familiarity with ITIL practices is a plus, demonstrating your commitment to industry-standard operational frameworks.
• Physical and Environmental Adaptability: Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in demanding, high-pressure environments with precision and resilience.
• Communication and Collaboration: Exceptional documentation and communication skills to ensure clarity and consistency in all interactions and records.
