Your Impact Will Be Significant

As a Traffic Engineer at Parsons, your responsibilities will span the entire project lifecycle, ensuring seamless integration of traffic engineering principles into large-scale infrastructure developments. Key contributions will include:

• Design and Review Expertise: Lead or contribute to the development and review of traffic signal systems, junction designs, temporary traffic management plans, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to ensure compliance with international and local standards.
• Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with project teams to define the scope, timeline, and budget for traffic engineering tasks, ensuring efficient resource allocation and timely project delivery.
• Technical Leadership: Prepare comprehensive traffic engineering plans, including signal timing designs, signing and marking layouts, intersection conceptual drafts, and ITS implementations, while adhering to industry standards such as ITE, OMUTCD, MUTCD, AASHTO, and regional guidelines.
• Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with surveyors, roadway designers, and other subject matter experts to integrate traffic engineering solutions into broader project deliverables, fostering innovation and technical excellence.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Conduct and document rigorous traffic studies using advanced analytical tools like HCS, TransModeler, Synchro, or SimTraffic to assess traffic patterns, safety measures, and operational efficiency, recommending evidence-based improvements.
• Quality Assurance and Compliance: Develop and evaluate technical approaches for traffic engineering projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards and best practices while reviewing third-party designs to streamline approval processes.
• Safety and Operational Excellence: Contribute to projects that prioritize safety, reduce congestion, and enhance the overall performance of transportation systems in Riyadh’s growing urban landscape.

To thrive in this role, you will bring a robust foundation in traffic engineering, paired with hands-on experience in high-impact projects. While we seek candidates with the following qualifications, we also value your proactive mindset and commitment to continuous learning:

• Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or equivalent) with 10+ years of specialized experience in traffic engineering, infrastructure planning, or a related field.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in industry-leading software such as MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads, and ProjectWise, along with expertise in traffic analysis tools like HCS, TransModeler, Synchro, or SimTraffic.
• Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of traffic operations principles, including ITE guidelines, OMUTCD, MUTCD, AASHTO standards, and regional requirements such as those from the Saudi Ministry of Transport or ODOT equivalents.
• Design and Planning: Proven experience in developing traffic engineering design plans, managing temporary traffic control measures, and conceptualizing intersection improvements.
• Collaborative Leadership: Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams, coordinating with external stakeholders, and providing technical guidance to ensure project success.
• Project Management Insight: Familiarity with PMO environments and experience managing complex tasks or projects is highly desirable.
• Certification Advantage: Chartered status (or equivalent) with a recognized engineering body is a plus, demonstrating your commitment to professional excellence.
