Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

• Lead Database Administration: Oversee the administration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases to ensure peak performance, reliability, and scalability in enterprise environments.
• Design and Implement High Availability Solutions: Architect and manage PostgreSQL High Availability (HA) using advanced tools such as Patroni, etcd/Consul, HAProxy, and PgBouncer to minimize downtime and ensure continuous data accessibility.
• Manage Backup and Recovery: Implement and maintain PostgreSQL backup and recovery using pgBackRest, ensuring data protection and rapid restoration capabilities in the event of failures or disasters.
• Optimize MySQL High Availability: Deploy and manage MySQL High Availability using Percona XtraDB Cluster (PXC), ensuring seamless failover and data synchronization across distributed environments.
• Execute Database Operations: Handle replication, migration, upgrades, backups, and restorations with precision, minimizing disruption to business operations while maintaining data integrity.
• Monitor and Tune Performance: Continuously monitor database health, availability, capacity, and performance, performing performance tuning and query optimization to enhance system efficiency and responsiveness.
• Enforce Security and Compliance: Implement robust database security measures, access controls, and compliance protocols to safeguard sensitive data and mitigate risks.
• Automate Workflows: Develop and deploy automation scripts and tools to streamline database administration tasks, reducing manual effort and improving operational consistency.
• Develop Disaster Recovery Strategies: Design and maintain Disaster Recovery (DR) and business continuity solutions, ensuring alignment with RPO (Recovery Point Objective) and RTO (Recovery Time Objective) requirements.
• Resolve Critical Incidents: Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues in production environments, ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining system stability.
• Maintain Documentation: Document database configurations, operational procedures, and recovery plans to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure smooth handoffs.

Technical Expertise Required

To excel in this role, you must possess:

• Proven Expertise in Database Administration: Extensive hands-on experience administering Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases in enterprise settings.
• PostgreSQL HA Architecture: Deep knowledge of Patroni, etcd/Consul, HAProxy, and PgBouncer for implementing fault-tolerant PostgreSQL environments.
• Backup and Recovery Specialization: Strong proficiency in pgBackRest for PostgreSQL backup and recovery operations.
• MySQL High Availability: Experience configuring and managing Percona XtraDB Cluster (PXC) for high availability and data synchronization.
• Database Replication and Migration: Expertise in database replication, migration, upgrades, and restoration processes to support evolving business needs.
• Performance Optimization: Advanced skills in performance tuning and query optimization to enhance database efficiency.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Strong ability to monitor database health, diagnose issues, and implement solutions to ensure optimal performance.
• Security and Compliance: Knowledge of database security best practices, access controls, and compliance frameworks to protect sensitive data.
• Automation and Scripting: Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Bash, Python) and automation tools to streamline administrative tasks.
• Disaster Recovery Planning: Understanding of DR, HA, RPO, and RTO principles to design resilient recovery strategies.
• Linux/Unix Administration: Solid foundation in Linux/Unix administration to manage server environments effectively.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: 7+ years of experience in database administration, with a strong focus on enterprise production environments.
• High Availability Expertise: Proven experience managing highly available and mission-critical database environments.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex issues, diagnose root causes, and implement effective solutions.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Preferred: Experience in large-scale enterprise or financial services environments, as well as relevant certifications in Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Linux, or cloud technologies.
