We are seeking a **Senior IT Systems Administrator** to lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of our critical network and datacenter infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations, security, and scalability for both internal and external stakeholders. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with a passion for networking, system administration, and collaborative problem-solving in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.

As the backbone of our IT operations, you will oversee the entire lifecycle of our network and infrastructure, from LAN/WAN architectures to firewall security and cloud services. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining a resilient, secure, and high-availability environment that supports Rohde & Schwarz Australia’s global operations, including our partnerships with the Australian Defence Force and international teams.

Key Responsibilities

In this strategic role, your responsibilities will include:

• Network Architecture and Security Leadership: Design, implement, and maintain LAN, WAN, and firewall architectures in Australia, ensuring they meet capacity, redundancy, and security standards. Leverage your experience with Aruba Routers, Checkpoint Firewalls, and Cisco switching to optimize performance and mitigate risks.
• Global Network Support: Provide Level 1 and 2 network infrastructure support as part of a global operational team, collaborating with international colleagues to ensure alignment and consistency across regions.
• Server and Cloud Administration: Oversee the day-to-day administration of Windows Server, Hypervisors, and cloud services, ensuring operational efficiency and reliability. Support enterprise backup and recovery platforms, including disaster recovery (DR) testing and incident response.
• Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security baselines aligned with DISP and ISO 27001 standards across servers, endpoints, and network devices. Lead vulnerability scans, patch management, and remediation efforts to proactively safeguard our infrastructure.
• Incident Response and Collaboration: Coordinate with international teams on SIEM, endpoint detection and response (EDR), and incident response, ensuring rapid resolution of security threats and operational disruptions.
• Project Leadership: Lead medium-sized IT projects, such as network infrastructure rollouts and application deployments, from planning to execution, ensuring timely delivery and minimal downtime.
• Remote Office Support: Provide Level 2 and 3 support for remote offices and personnel across Australia, including regular travel (approximately once a month to Australian offices and annually to Germany) to maintain operational continuity.

• Advanced Technical Expertise: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). Extensive experience in enterprise network and system administration, with networking as a primary focus in your career.
