Linux Systems Administrator – Cloud & Enterprise Infrastructure Specialist

Join SAIC as a **Linux Systems Administrator** within a dynamic, mission-critical environment, supporting the **U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) J76, K. Mark Takai Pacific Warfighting Center**. In this full-time, day-shift role, you will play a pivotal part in maintaining, optimizing, and securing a robust **enterprise IT infrastructure**, blending **Linux systems administration, cloud operations, and automation** to ensure seamless mission readiness. This position offers **10% travel** and requires a **Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI**, making it ideal for professionals committed to national defense and advanced technological leadership.

As a key member of a high-performance team, you will drive **enterprise-scale reliability, security, and efficiency** by administering and enhancing **Linux-based systems, cloud platforms, and hybrid infrastructure**. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting **Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and C4I systems** during critical exercises, ensuring operational resilience in high-stakes environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Linux Infrastructure Management: Administer and optimize **RHEL, CentOS, and Ubuntu** servers across the enterprise, ensuring peak performance, availability, and security. Monitor system health, diagnose issues, and implement remediation strategies to maintain operational excellence.
  • Cloud & Hybrid IT Leadership: Lead the administration of **cloud infrastructure and services**, including **Microsoft 365, Intune, and other enterprise platforms**, while aligning with DoD security and compliance standards.
  • Security & Compliance: Apply **Linux Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)**, patch management protocols, and remediate vulnerabilities (e.g., ACAS) to mitigate risks. Ensure adherence to **FedRAMP, SCAP, and GPOs** in a classified environment.
  • Automation & Configuration Management: Develop and maintain **Ansible playbooks** for automated provisioning, configuration, and deployment. Leverage **Terraform** to manage infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and streamline operational workflows.
  • Hardware & Network Support: Provide **end-to-end support** for enterprise hardware, virtualization (ESXi), and network protocols (DHCP, DNS, SMTP). Troubleshoot complex issues across **Windows Server, Linux, and hybrid environments** to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Collaboration: Document **Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)** and troubleshooting guides to empower the team. Collaborate with cross-functional IT specialists to deliver innovative solutions and enhance system capabilities.
  • Mission-Critical Contributions: Assist in **live exercises and simulations**, ensuring **Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and C4I systems** operate flawlessly under pressure. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that elevate infrastructure resilience and performance.

Qualifications & Requirements:

We are seeking a **highly skilled Linux Systems Administrator** with a proven track record in **enterprise IT, cloud operations, and security compliance**. Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree **or nine (9+) years of relevant experience** (additional four years may substitute for a degree). Demonstrated expertise in **Linux systems administration, cloud infrastructure, and IT security** across diverse environments.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with **RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, Windows Server, and ESXi**. Proficiency in **network protocols (DHCP, DNS, SMTP)**, **automation tools (Ansible, Terraform)**, and **cloud platforms (Microsoft 365, Intune)**. Strong understanding of **DoD security frameworks (STIGs, SCAP, FedRAMP)** and **hardware/software troubleshooting**.
  • Certifications: Current **DoD 8570 IAT II compliance** (Security+ CE or higher) required. Preference for certifications such as **RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate**.
  • Security Clearance: Active **Secret clearance** with the ability to obtain **TS/SCI**. Must be a **U.S. citizen**.
