IT Network Administrator – Drive and Optimize Telecel Ghana’s Digital Infrastructure

Telecel Ghana is seeking a highly skilled and experienced IT Network Administrator to oversee, manage, and enhance our critical data network infrastructure. In this pivotal role, you will ensure seamless connectivity across our wide-area network (WAN), local-area networks (LAN), and metropolitan-area networks (MAN), bridging our data center with remote offices while maintaining high-performance standards. Your expertise will be instrumental in delivering reliable, scalable, and secure network solutions that empower Telecel Ghana’s operations and drive digital transformation.

As the backbone of our IT ecosystem, you will provide strategic technical leadership, ensuring our network infrastructure aligns with business objectives while supporting end-user needs. This role demands a blend of technical proficiency, analytical thinking, and project management acumen to design, deploy, and optimize network systems that enhance connectivity, security, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, your responsibilities will include:

• Technical Leadership and Decision-Making: Provide expert guidance on network architecture, ensuring optimal performance and reliability for WAN, LAN, MAN, and hybrid environments. Align network solutions with Telecel Ghana’s strategic goals to meet daily operational requirements and future scalability needs.
• Consulting and Project Delivery: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and integrate complex network solutions. Serve as a technical authority for IT data network projects, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and budget constraints.
• Strategic Planning and Cost Optimization: Develop compelling business cases and cost-benefit analyses to justify IT investments in network infrastructure. Leverage data-driven insights to recommend cost-effective upgrades, enhancements, and technological advancements that align with business growth.
• Network Operations and Maintenance: Oversee the monitoring, maintenance, and upgrading of all IT data network systems, including routers, switches, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals. Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and performance optimization for all network components.
• Standards and Best Practices: Establish and enforce network principles, policies, and standards that prioritize security, scalability, and user experience. Align technical frameworks with company-wide objectives to deliver consistent, high-quality network services.
• Project Deployment and Architecture: Work closely with the Head of IT Strategy to review and capture architecture plans for complex technical environments. Drive successful project deployments while ensuring alignment with organizational goals and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates for this role must possess a robust blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking. We are seeking an individual with:

• Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field is preferred. Advanced certifications in network engineering or cybersecurity are a significant advantage.
• Technical Proficiency: 5+ years of hands-on experience in data network administration, with 3+ years in a technical management capacity. Deep expertise in:
• Network Security tools and products (3+ years of experience)
• VPN technologies (3-5 years of experience)
• Routing, switching, and bridging (3-5 years of experience)
• Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology (SMART) (3-5 years of experience)
• Configuration and management of IP connectivity equipment, including switching, routing, firewalls, load balancers, and Wi-Fi solutions
• IP-MPLS technology with a strong operational understanding
• Global and Adaptive Mindset: Proven ability to thrive in a global organization, leveraging international frameworks to drive local success. Experience navigating rapid operational and cultural change, ensuring agility and resilience in dynamic environments.
• Leadership and Collaboration: Exceptional communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams. Ability to mentor junior staff, drive innovation, and foster a culture of continuous improvement in network operations.
