We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced **System Administrator** to lead the design, deployment, and management of our **dual-cloud infrastructure**, ensuring seamless operations across **AWS and Microsoft Azure** environments. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in **on-premises and cloud-based systems**, capable of bridging the gap between hybrid environments while maintaining high availability, security, and performance. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of our infrastructure—from planning and deployment to monitoring, security, and continuous improvement. This includes managing **Linux (Red Hat) and Windows Server** environments, automating deployments via **Infrastructure as Code (IaC)**, and ensuring **disaster recovery, backup, and failover** strategies are robust and compliant. With a focus on **proactive problem-solving**, this role will also involve **troubleshooting complex issues**, optimizing system performance, and implementing **security best practices** to safeguard critical assets.

Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, your responsibilities will include:

• Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, deploy, and maintain **scalable, high-availability infrastructure** across **AWS and Azure**, ensuring seamless integration between on-premises and cloud environments.
• Operating System Administration: Configure, patch, harden, and maintain **Linux (Red Hat) and Windows Server** environments to meet enterprise standards, including performance tuning and security remediation.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) & Automation: Develop and manage cloud deployments using **AWS CDK, CDKTF (Azure), and CloudFormation**, automating workflows to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery (DR): Design and implement **on-premises and cloud-based backup solutions**, including **failover mechanisms, business continuity planning, and DR testing** to ensure minimal downtime.
• High Availability & Failover: Configure and test **multi-cloud and hybrid failover solutions** to guarantee system resilience and business continuity.
• Security & Compliance: Implement **Identity and Access Management (IAM)**, monitoring solutions, logging frameworks, and security hardening to protect against vulnerabilities and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Vulnerability & Patch Management: Conduct **vulnerability assessments**, apply security patches, and remediate risks to maintain a secure and compliant IT environment.
• System Hardening & Optimization: Perform **performance tuning, system hardening, and OS-level remediation** to enhance stability and efficiency across all environments.
• Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution: Diagnose and resolve **complex infrastructure, networking, and system-level issues** across hybrid and cloud environments, ensuring minimal disruption.
• Feasibility & Risk Assessment: Conduct **feasibility studies** to evaluate the viability of proposed projects and recommend data-driven solutions that align with business strategy.
• Proactive Monitoring & Alerting: Implement **real-time monitoring** of networks and servers, responding to critical alerts to maintain optimal performance and reliability.
• Change & Release Management: Lead **change management processes**, including **release planning, testing, validation, and deployment**, while minimizing risk to production environments.
• Continuous Improvement: Evaluate current systems, identify inefficiencies, and collaborate on **strategic enhancements** to drive operational excellence.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the **primary technical liaison** between **Infrastructure, IT teams, vendors, and business stakeholders**, ensuring alignment between technical solutions and business goals.
• Risk & Compliance Adherence: Apply **Bank of Montreal’s Risk Management Framework**, ensuring all activities comply with **internal policies, laws, and regulations** while protecting institutional assets.
