Sacramento Credit Union is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Systems Administrator II to join our dynamic Information Technology team at our downtown Sacramento headquarters. This pivotal role focuses on maintaining, optimizing, and securing our enterprise-grade Windows-based server and virtualization infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and robust security across our organization. As a key member of our IT leadership, you will play a critical role in supporting mission-critical systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving technological advancements that enhance efficiency and reliability.

In this position, you will oversee the administration of Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and identity/access services, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory compliance. Your expertise will be instrumental in managing VMware virtualization platforms, performing regular system updates, and maintaining enterprise-grade backup and recovery operations using Veeam Backup & Replication. Beyond technical responsibilities, you will serve as a strategic partner to business units, identifying opportunities for process improvements and leading initiatives that align IT solutions with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will encompass a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Identity and Access Management: Administer Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra ID, and Group Policy to ensure secure and efficient user account provisioning, modifications, and deactivations. Lead initiatives in multifactor authentication and identity security to bolster organizational resilience.
• Microsoft 365 Administration: Manage Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, and OneDrive environments, ensuring seamless collaboration and data accessibility while maintaining robust security controls and role-based access.
• Endpoint Management and Security: Deploy, configure, and maintain workstation and endpoint devices using platforms like Microsoft Intune and Group Policy. Perform OS upgrades, patching, and software lifecycle management to keep systems current and secure. Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, and software issues while upholding compliance and security standards.
• Virtualization and Infrastructure: Administer VMware virtualization hosts and virtual machines, ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability. Lead projects related to infrastructure upgrades, technology implementations, and disaster recovery planning.
• Backup and Recovery Operations: Monitor and maintain enterprise backup operations using Veeam Backup & Replication. Verify backup success, investigate failures, and lead recovery testing and disaster recovery exercises to ensure business continuity.
• Security and Compliance: Support security audits, regulatory requirements, and vulnerability remediation activities. Participate in incident response, investigate alerts, and assist with security awareness initiatives to foster a culture of cybersecurity best practices.
• Technical Documentation and Collaboration: Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, procedures, and implementation/rollback plans for infrastructure changes. Collaborate with vendors, evaluate technology solutions, and cross-train with IT team members to foster knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
• Project Leadership: Lead small to medium-sized infrastructure projects, from conception to execution, ensuring alignment with business objectives and IT strategy.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will bring:

• Experience: A minimum of four years of experience as a Systems Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role, with a preference for experience within a financial institution or highly regulated environment.
• Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of Windows Server Administration, Active Directory, Group Policy, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365. Proficiency in managing VMware or Hyper-V environments, enterprise backup solutions, and scripting languages such as PowerShell.
• Security and Compliance: Hands-on experience supporting security initiatives, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities, coupled with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical challenges.
• Project Management: The ability to independently manage priorities, lead technical projects, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
