Key Responsibilities

In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity, operational efficiency, and strategic alignment across all aspects of the finance function. Your duties will include:

Management Accounting & Financial Reporting

• Lead the preparation and analysis of monthly management accounts, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow forecasts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Oversee the month-end close process, including accruals, prepayments, journal entries, depreciation calculations, and other critical adjustments to maintain financial accuracy.
• Provide clear, insightful commentary on material variances and movements, equipping leadership with the data needed for informed decision-making.
• Maintain rigorous balance sheet reconciliations, promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies to uphold financial integrity.
• Develop and present financial schedules, analyses, and management reports tailored for the CFO, Board, and executive leadership team.

Project & Commercial Reporting

• Assess project revenue, expenditure, and associated margins to ensure accurate financial recognition and period alignment.
• Partner with operational teams to validate income and cost recognition, enhancing transparency in project performance and profitability.
• Conduct in-depth analysis of financial variances and deliver actionable insights to support operational and commercial strategy.

Financial Control & Compliance

• Prepare and submit VAT reconciliations and returns, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining comprehensive supporting documentation.
• Review payroll information and reconciliations, supporting the accurate accounting of payroll-related costs and liabilities.
• Compile supporting schedules for statutory accounts, corporation tax filings, audit processes, and other external reviews to ensure full compliance.
• Strengthen financial controls across revenue recognition, purchasing, payments, expenses, payroll, and balance sheet accounts to mitigate risks and enhance operational resilience.

Cash & Working Capital Management

• Monitor customer invoicing, cash allocation, and aged debt to optimise liquidity and ensure timely collections.
• Support credit control initiatives, working to maintain overdue balances within agreed targets and safeguarding cash flow.
• Oversee the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes, ensuring alignment with UK accounting standards and internal policies.
