As the authoritative voice in design governance, you will provide rigorous oversight to **Lead Design Consultants**, ensuring their outputs meet the highest standards of technical accuracy, safety, and value. Your leadership will be instrumental in driving **compliance with healthcare-specific regulations**, integrating **Safety in Design principles**, and delivering **cost-effective, buildable, and operationally robust** solutions that enhance patient care environments.

Key Responsibilities

Your strategic influence will span multiple critical domains:

• Design Leadership & Oversight: Direct and mentor design consultant teams to ensure designs evolve in alignment with approved project briefs, contractual obligations, and stakeholder requirements. Maintain alignment with **QIC’s operational and commercial goals** while fostering innovation and quality.
• Program & Stakeholder Coordination: Develop and manage cross-functional collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to uphold project timelines, milestones, and delivery schedules. Act as the primary liaison to ensure seamless communication and alignment across all phases of the project lifecycle.
• Technical & Regulatory Compliance: Conduct **in-depth technical reviews** of design outputs to verify compliance with **healthcare-specific regulations**, industry standards, and QIC’s internal policies. Assess contractor-initiated design modifications for **viability, coordination, and alignment** with project objectives, ensuring no compromise on safety, quality, or functionality.
• Procurement & Scope Development: Define and refine **design consultant scopes of work**, contributing to contractor scopes where applicable. Ensure technical requirements are clearly articulated and aligned with procurement strategies to optimize project outcomes.
• Value Engineering & Budget Management: Drive **cost-efficient design solutions** by identifying value engineering opportunities without compromising performance, buildability, or regulatory compliance. Balance financial constraints with high-quality design outcomes to deliver **maximum value for money**.
• Design Approval Governance: Lead the **end-to-end design approval process**, securing timely endorsements from internal and external stakeholders. Implement a **transparent, well-documented approval pathway** to integrate design changes seamlessly while maintaining compliance and operational alignment.
• Risk & Safety Leadership: Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate **design-related risks** across compliance, coordination, program delivery, and safety. Champion **Safety in Design (SiD) initiatives**, including facilitating formal workshops to ensure designs meet **construction, operational, and maintenance safety standards**.
• Disciplinary Coordination: Oversee **cross-disciplinary coordination** during technical reviews, ensuring clarity in scope definitions and alignment with healthcare facility-specific performance criteria.
