We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Design Manager – Architecture to oversee consultant-led architectural design projects from inception to construction readiness. In this influential position, you will play a critical role in shaping architectural outcomes while ensuring full alignment with approved design briefs, Scopes of Work (SOW), and technical guidelines. Your expertise will be instrumental in maintaining architectural intent throughout the project lifecycle, fostering collaboration between structural, MEP, landscape, and other specialist consultants to produce a cohesive, construction-ready design. Unlike a hands-on designer, your focus will be on strategic oversight—reviewing, guiding, and assuring the quality, coordination, and deliverability of consultant outputs while supporting the Design Director in leadership, technical assurance, cost alignment, and execution readiness.

Key Responsibilities

As the Senior Design Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Strategic Design Leadership: Oversee and coordinate all architectural design activities, ensuring seamless integration between disciplines—structural, MEP, landscape, and infrastructure—to uphold the architectural vision while meeting QIC’s compliance and quality standards.
• Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Act as the primary interface between design teams, resolving conflicts proactively and ensuring all trades are fully aligned. Chair coordination meetings, track actions, and mitigate interface issues to maintain project momentum.
• Consultant Management: Lead engagements with architectural and multidisciplinary consultants, enforcing design governance processes such as input control, change management, and structured design reviews to minimize rework and clashes.
• Technical Assurance: Review consultant submissions—drawings, detailed design packages, and technical documentation—to validate completeness, coordination, and compliance with QIC’s guidelines and project objectives.
• Cost and Value Alignment: Collaborate closely with Development and Commercial teams to ensure design solutions adhere to approved budgets and value targets. Contribute to cost planning and value engineering initiatives to optimize project outcomes.
• Construction Readiness: Apply deep knowledge of execution and construction practices to assess buildability, sequencing, and coordination across all disciplines, ensuring designs are practical and ready for seamless construction.
• Early-Stage Design Support: Assist in refining design briefs, SOWs, and guidelines to ensure clarity and alignment across all disciplines from the project’s inception.
• Procurement and Performance Oversight: Review technical aspects of consultant procurement submissions and contribute to tender evaluations. Monitor consultant performance to guarantee deliverables meet project objectives and support Commercial in managing design contracts.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you will bring:

• A Master’s degree in Architecture or a related field, coupled with 15+ years of progressive experience in architectural design management, demonstrating a track record of leading complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Proven leadership skills, with experience managing teams and fostering collaboration across diverse stakeholders to drive cohesive design outcomes.
• Technical proficiency in industry-standard software, including Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite, to effectively review and assess design deliverables.
• A deep understanding of sustainable design practices and relevant codes, ensuring projects align with environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to articulate technical concepts clearly and build strong relationships with consultants, clients, and cross-functional teams.
• The ability to operate under pressure, deliver within tight deadlines, and maintain composure in fast-paced environments while upholding the highest standards of quality and compliance.
